بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 84 · Meccan
Al-Inshiqaq
The Rending Asunder
الانشقاق
26 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
اِذَا السَّمَآءُ انۡشَقَّتۡ ۙ﴿۲﴾
When the heaven bursts asunder,وَاَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّہَا وَحُقَّتۡ ۙ﴿۳﴾
And gives ear to her Lord — and this is incumbent upon her —وَاِذَا الۡاَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ ۙ﴿۴﴾
And when the earth is spread out,وَاَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِیۡہَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ ۙ﴿۵﴾
And casts out all that is in her, and becomes empty;وَاَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّہَا وَحُقَّتۡ ؕ﴿۶﴾
And gives ear to her Lord — and this is incumbent upon her —یٰۤاَیُّہَا الۡاِنۡسَانُ اِنَّکَ کَادِحٌ اِلٰی رَبِّکَ کَدۡحًا فَمُلٰقِیۡہِ ۚ﴿۷﴾
Thou, O man, art verily labouring towards thy Lord, a hard labouring; then thou art going to meet Him.فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِیَ کِتٰبَہٗ بِیَمِیۡنِہٖ ۙ﴿۸﴾
Then as for him who is given his book of record in his right hand,فَسَوۡفَ یُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا یَّسِیۡرًا ۙ﴿۹﴾
He will soon have an easy reckoning,وَّیَنۡقَلِبُ اِلٰۤی اَہۡلِہٖ مَسۡرُوۡرًا ؕ﴿۱۰﴾
And he will return to his household, rejoicing.وَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِیَ کِتٰبَہٗ وَرَآءَ ظَہۡرِہٖ ﴿ۙ۱۱﴾
But as for him who will have his book of record given to him behind his back,فَسَوۡفَ یَدۡعُوۡا ثُبُوۡرًا ﴿ۙ۱۲﴾
He will soon call for destruction,وَّیَصۡلٰی سَعِیۡرًا ﴿ؕ۱۳﴾
And he will burn in a blazing Fire.اِنَّہٗ کَانَ فِیۡۤ اَہۡلِہٖ مَسۡرُوۡرًا ﴿ؕ۱۴﴾
Verily, before this he lived joyfully among his family.اِنَّہٗ ظَنَّ اَنۡ لَّنۡ یَّحُوۡرَ ﴿ۚۛ۱۵﴾
He indeed thought that he would never return to God.بَلٰۤی ۚۛ اِنَّ رَبَّہٗ کَانَ بِہٖ بَصِیۡرًا ﴿ؕ۱۶﴾
Yea! surely, his Lord sees him full well.فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ ﴿ۙ۱۷﴾
But nay! I call to witness the evening twilight,وَالَّیۡلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾
And the night and all that it envelops,وَالۡقَمَرِ اِذَا اتَّسَقَ ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾
And the moon when it becomes full,لَتَرۡکَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَنۡ طَبَقٍ ﴿ؕ۲۰﴾
That you shall assuredly pass on from one stage to another.فَمَا لَہُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۲۱﴾
So what is the matter with them that they believe not,وَاِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَیۡہِمُ الۡقُرۡاٰنُ لَا یَسۡجُدُوۡنَ ﴿ؕٛ۲۲﴾
And when the Qur’an is recited unto them, they do not bow down in submission;بَلِ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا یُکَذِّبُوۡنَ ﴿۫ۖ۲۳﴾
On the contrary, those who disbelieve reject it.وَاللّٰہُ اَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یُوۡعُوۡنَ ﴿۫ۖ۲۴﴾
And Allah knows best what they keep hidden in their hearts.فَبَشِّرۡہُمۡ بِعَذَابٍ اَلِیۡمٍ ﴿ۙ۲۵﴾
So give them tidings of a painful punishment.اِلَّا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَہُمۡ اَجۡرٌ غَیۡرُ مَمۡنُوۡنٍ ﴿٪۲۶﴾
But as to those who believe and do good works, theirs is an unending reward.Al-Inshiqaq — The Rending Asunder
