بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 82 · Meccan
Al-Infitar
The Cleaving Asunder
الانفطار
20 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
اِذَا السَّمَآءُ انۡفَطَرَتۡ ۙ﴿۲﴾
When the heaven is cleft asunder,وَاِذَا الۡکَوَاکِبُ انۡتَثَرَتۡ ۙ﴿۳﴾
And when the stars are scattered,وَاِذَا الۡبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتۡ ﴿ۙ۴﴾
And when the rivers are made to flow forth into canals,وَاِذَا الۡقُبُوۡرُ بُعۡثِرَتۡ ۙ﴿۵﴾
And when the graves are laid open,عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَاَخَّرَتۡ ؕ﴿۶﴾
Each soul shall then know what it has sent forth and what it has held back.یٰۤاَیُّہَا الۡاِنۡسَانُ مَا غَرَّکَ بِرَبِّکَ الۡکَرِیۡمِ ۙ﴿۷﴾
O man, what has emboldened thee against thy Gracious Lord,الَّذِیۡ خَلَقَکَ فَسَوّٰٮکَ فَعَدَلَکَ ۙ﴿۸﴾
Who created thee, then perfected thee, then proportioned thee aright?فِیۡۤ اَیِّ صُوۡرَۃٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَکَّبَکَ ؕ﴿۹﴾
In whatever form He pleased, He fashioned thee.کَلَّا بَلۡ تُکَذِّبُوۡنَ بِالدِّیۡنِ ۙ﴿۱۰﴾
Nay, but you deny the Judgment.وَاِنَّ عَلَیۡکُمۡ لَحٰفِظِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۱﴾
But there are guardians over youکِرَامًا کَاتِبِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۲﴾
Honoured recorders,یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ مَا تَفۡعَلُوۡنَ ﴿۱۳﴾
Who know all that you do.اِنَّ الۡاَبۡرَارَ لَفِیۡ نَعِیۡمٍ ﴿ۚ۱۴﴾
Verily, the virtuous will be in bliss;وَاِنَّ الۡفُجَّارَ لَفِیۡ جَحِیۡمٍ ﴿ۚۖ۱۵﴾
And the wicked will be in Hell;یَّصۡلَوۡنَہَا یَوۡمَ الدِّیۡنِ ﴿۱۶﴾
They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment;وَمَا ہُمۡ عَنۡہَا بِغَآئِبِیۡنَ ﴿ؕ۱۷﴾
And they will not be able to escape therefrom.وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮکَ مَا یَوۡمُ الدِّیۡنِ ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾
And what should make thee know what the Day of Judgment is!ثُمَّ مَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮکَ مَا یَوۡمُ الدِّیۡنِ ﴿ؕ۱۹﴾
Again, what should make thee know what the Day of Judgment is!یَوۡمَ لَا تَمۡلِکُ نَفۡسٌ لِّنَفۡسٍ شَیۡئًا ؕ وَالۡاَمۡرُ یَوۡمَئِذٍ لِّلّٰہِ ﴿٪۲۰﴾
The day when a soul shall have no power to do aught for another soul! And the command on that day will be Allah’s.Al-Infitar — The Cleaving Asunder
