بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾

Al-Takwir
The Folding Up
التكوير
30 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
اِذَا الشَّمۡسُ کُوِّرَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۲﴾
When the sun is wrapped up,وَاِذَا النُّجُوۡمُ انۡکَدَرَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۳﴾
And when the stars are obscured,وَاِذَا الۡجِبَالُ سُیِّرَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۴﴾
And when the mountains are made to move,وَاِذَا الۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۵﴾
And when the she-camels, tenmonth pregnant, are abandoned,وَاِذَا الۡوُحُوۡشُ حُشِرَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۶﴾
And when the beasts are gathered together,وَاِذَا الۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۷﴾
And when the seas are made to flow forth one into the other,وَاِذَا النُّفُوۡسُ زُوِّجَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۸﴾
And when people are brought together,وَاِذَا الۡمَوۡءٗدَۃُ سُئِلَتۡ ۪ۙ﴿۹﴾
And when the girl-child buried alive is questioned about,بِاَیِّ ذَنۡۢبٍ قُتِلَتۡ ۚ﴿۱۰﴾
‘For what crime was she killed?’وَاِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ ﴿۪ۙ۱۱﴾
And when books are spread abroad.وَاِذَا السَّمَآءُ کُشِطَتۡ ﴿۪ۙ۱۲﴾
And when the heaven is laid bare,وَاِذَا الۡجَحِیۡمُ سُعِّرَتۡ ﴿۪ۙ۱۳﴾
And when the Fire is caused to blaze up,وَاِذَا الۡجَنَّۃُ اُزۡلِفَتۡ ﴿۪ۙ۱۴﴾
And when the Garden is brought nigh,عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ مَّاۤ اَحۡضَرَتۡ ﴿ؕ۱۵﴾
Then every soul will know what it has brought forward.فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِالۡخُنَّسِ ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾
Nay! I call to witness the planets that recede,الۡجَوَارِ الۡکُنَّسِ ﴿ۙ۱۷﴾
Go ahead and then hide.وَالَّیۡلِ اِذَا عَسۡعَسَ ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾
And I call to witness the night as it passes away,وَالصُّبۡحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَ ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾
And the dawn as it begins to breathe,اِنَّہٗ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُوۡلٍ کَرِیۡمٍ ﴿ۙ۲۰﴾
That this is surely the revealed word of a noble Messenger,ذِیۡ قُوَّۃٍ عِنۡدَ ذِی الۡعَرۡشِ مَکِیۡنٍ ﴿ۙ۲۱﴾
Possessor of power, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne,مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَمِیۡنٍ ﴿ؕ۲۲﴾
Obeyed there, and faithful to his trust.وَمَا صَاحِبُکُمۡ بِمَجۡنُوۡنٍ ﴿ۚ۲۳﴾
And your companion is not mad.وَلَقَدۡ رَاٰہُ بِالۡاُفُقِ الۡمُبِیۡنِ ﴿ۚ۲۴﴾
And he assuredly saw Him on the clear horizon.وَمَا ہُوَ عَلَی الۡغَیۡبِ بِضَنِیۡنٍ ﴿ۚ۲۵﴾
And he is not niggardly with respect to the unseen.وَمَا ہُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَیۡطٰنٍ رَّجِیۡمٍ ﴿ۙ۲۶﴾
Nor is this the word of Satan, the rejected.فَاَیۡنَ تَذۡہَبُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۲۷﴾
Whither, then, are you going?اِنۡ ہُوَ اِلَّا ذِکۡرٌ لِّلۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۲۸﴾
It is nothing but a Reminder unto all the worlds,لِمَنۡ شَآءَ مِنۡکُمۡ اَنۡ یَّسۡتَقِیۡمَ ﴿ؕ۲۹﴾
Unto such among you as desire to go straight,وَمَا تَشَآءُوۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ یَّشَآءَ اللّٰہُ رَبُّ الۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿٪۳۰﴾
While you desire not a thing except that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, desires it.Al-Takwir — The Folding Up
