بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 87 · Meccan
Al-A‘la
The Most High

20 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
سَبِّحِ اسۡمَ رَبِّکَ الۡاَعۡلَی ۙ﴿۲﴾
Glorify the name of thy Lord, the Most High,الَّذِیۡ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰی ۪ۙ﴿۳﴾
Who creates and perfects,وَالَّذِیۡ قَدَّرَ فَہَدٰی ۪ۙ﴿۴﴾
And Who designs and guides,وَالَّذِیۡۤ اَخۡرَجَ الۡمَرۡعٰی ۪ۙ﴿۵﴾
And Who brings forth the pasturage,فَجَعَلَہٗ غُثَآءً اَحۡوٰی ؕ﴿۶﴾
Then turns it black, rotten rubbish.سَنُقۡرِئُکَ فَلَا تَنۡسٰۤی ۙ﴿۷﴾
We shall teach thee the Qur’an, and thou shalt forget it not,اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰہُ ؕ اِنَّہٗ یَعۡلَمُ الۡجَہۡرَ وَمَا یَخۡفٰی ؕ﴿۸﴾
Except as Allah wills. Surely, He knows what is open and what is hidden.وَنُیَسِّرُکَ لِلۡیُسۡرٰی ۚ﴿ۖ۹﴾
And We shall facilitate for thee every facility.فَذَکِّرۡ اِنۡ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّکۡرٰی ؕ﴿۱۰﴾
So go on reminding; surely, reminding is profitable.سَیَذَّکَّرُ مَنۡ یَّخۡشٰی ﴿ۙ۱۱﴾
He who fears will soon heed;وَیَتَجَنَّبُہَا الۡاَشۡقَی ﴿ۙ۱۲﴾
But the reprobate will turn aside from it,الَّذِیۡ یَصۡلَی النَّارَ الۡکُبۡرٰی ﴿ۚ۱۳﴾
He who is to enter the great Fire.ثُمَّ لَا یَمُوۡتُ فِیۡہَا وَلَا یَحۡیٰی ﴿ؕ۱۴﴾
Then he will neither die therein nor live.قَدۡ اَفۡلَحَ مَنۡ تَزَکّٰی ﴿ۙ۱۵﴾
Verily, he truly prospers who purifies himself,وَذَکَرَ اسۡمَ رَبِّہٖ فَصَلّٰی ﴿ؕ۱۶﴾
And remembers the name of his Lord and offers Prayers.بَلۡ تُؤۡثِرُوۡنَ الۡحَیٰوۃَ الدُّنۡیَا ﴿۫ۖ۱۷﴾
But you prefer the life of this world,وَالۡاٰخِرَۃُ خَیۡرٌ وَّاَبۡقٰی ﴿ؕ۱۸﴾
Whereas the Hereafter is better and more lasting.اِنَّ ہٰذَا لَفِی الصُّحُفِ الۡاُوۡلٰی ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾
This indeed is what is taught in the former Scriptures —صُحُفِ اِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ وَمُوۡسٰی ﴿٪۲۰﴾
