بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 92 · Meccan
Al-Lail
The Night
الليل
22 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
وَالَّیۡلِ اِذَا یَغۡشٰی ۙ﴿۲﴾
By the night when it covers up!وَالنَّہَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰی ۙ﴿۳﴾
And by the day when it brightens up,وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّکَرَ وَالۡاُنۡثٰۤی ۙ﴿۴﴾
And by the creating of the male and the female,اِنَّ سَعۡیَکُمۡ لَشَتّٰی ؕ﴿۵﴾
Surely, your strivings are diverse.فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اَعۡطٰی وَاتَّقٰی ۙ﴿۶﴾
Then as for him who gives and is righteous,وَصَدَّقَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰی ۙ﴿۷﴾
And testifies to the truth of what is right,فَسَنُیَسِّرُہٗ لِلۡیُسۡرٰی ؕ﴿۸﴾
We will facilitate for him every facility.وَاَمَّا مَنۡۢ بَخِلَ وَاسۡتَغۡنٰی ۙ﴿۹﴾
But as for him who is niggardly and is disdainfully indifferent,وَکَذَّبَ بِالۡحُسۡنٰی ۙ﴿۱۰﴾
And rejects what is right,فَسَنُیَسِّرُہٗ لِلۡعُسۡرٰی ﴿ؕ۱۱﴾
We will make easy for him the path to distress.وَمَا یُغۡنِیۡ عَنۡہُ مَالُہٗۤ اِذَا تَرَدّٰی ﴿ؕ۱۲﴾
And his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes.اِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا لَلۡہُدٰی ﴿۫ۖ۱۳﴾
Surely it is for Us to guide;وَاِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡاٰخِرَۃَ وَالۡاُوۡلٰی ﴿۱۴﴾
And to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world.فَاَنۡذَرۡتُکُمۡ نَارًا تَلَظّٰی ﴿ۚ۱۵﴾
So I warn you of a flaming Fire.لَا یَصۡلٰٮہَاۤ اِلَّا الۡاَشۡقَی ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾
None shall enter it but the most wicked one,الَّذِیۡ کَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰی ﴿ؕ۱۷﴾
Who rejects the truth and turns his back.وَسَیُجَنَّبُہَا الۡاَتۡقَی ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾
But the righteous one shall be kept away from it,الَّذِیۡ یُؤۡتِیۡ مَالَہٗ یَتَزَکّٰی ﴿ۚ۱۹﴾
Who gives his wealth to become purified.وَمَا لِاَحَدٍ عِنۡدَہٗ مِنۡ نِّعۡمَۃٍ تُجۡزٰۤی ﴿ۙ۲۰﴾
And he owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid,اِلَّا ابۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡہِ رَبِّہِ الۡاَعۡلٰی ﴿ۚ۲۱﴾
Except that he gives his wealth to seek the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High.وَلَسَوۡفَ یَرۡضٰی ﴿٪۲۲﴾
And soon will He be well pleased with him.Al-Lail — The Night
