بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 78 · Meccan
Al-Naba’
The Great News
النبأ
41 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
عَمَّ یَتَسَآءَلُوۡنَ ۚ﴿۲﴾
About what do they question one another?78:3

عَنِ النَّبَاِ الۡعَظِیۡمِ ۙ﴿۳﴾
[✲]About the great Event,الَّذِیۡ ہُمۡ فِیۡہِ مُخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ ؕ﴿۴﴾
Concerning which they differ.کَلَّا سَیَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ۙ﴿۵﴾
Nay, soon they will come to know.ثُمَّ کَلَّا سَیَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۶﴾
Nay, We say it again, they will soon come to know.اَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ الۡاَرۡضَ مِہٰدًا ۙ﴿۷﴾
Have We not made the earth a bed,وَّالۡجِبَالَ اَوۡتَادًا ﴿۪ۙ۸﴾
And the mountains as pegs?وَّخَلَقۡنٰکُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا ۙ﴿۹﴾
And We have created you in pairs,وَّجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَکُمۡ سُبَاتًا ۙ﴿۱۰﴾
And We have made your sleep for rest,وَّجَعَلۡنَا الَّیۡلَ لِبَاسًا ﴿ۙ۱۱﴾
And We have made the night as a covering,78:12

وَّجَعَلۡنَا النَّہَارَ مَعَاشًا ﴿۪۱۲﴾
[✲]And We have made the day for the activities of life.وَّبَنَیۡنَا فَوۡقَکُمۡ سَبۡعًا شِدَادًا ﴿ۙ۱۳﴾
And We have built over you seven strong heavens;وَّجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجًا وَّہَّاجًا ﴿۪ۙ۱۴﴾
And We have made the sun a bright lamp.وَّاَنۡزَلۡنَا مِنَ الۡمُعۡصِرٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا ﴿ۙ۱۵﴾
And We send down from the dripping clouds water pouring forth abundantly,لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِہٖ حَبًّا وَّنَبَاتًا ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾
That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation,وَّجَنّٰتٍ اَلۡفَافًا ﴿ؕ۱۷﴾
And gardens of luxuriant growth.اِنَّ یَوۡمَ الۡفَصۡلِ کَانَ مِیۡقَاتًا ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾
Surely, the Day of Decision has an appointed time:78:19

یَّوۡمَ یُنۡفَخُ فِی الصُّوۡرِ فَتَاۡتُوۡنَ اَفۡوَاجًا ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾
[✲]The day when the trumpet will be blown; and you will come in large groups;وَّفُتِحَتِ السَّمَآءُ فَکَانَتۡ اَبۡوَابًا ﴿ۙ۲۰﴾
And the heaven shall be opened and shall become all doors;وَّسُیِّرَتِ الۡجِبَالُ فَکَانَتۡ سَرَابًا ﴿ؕ۲۱﴾
And the mountains shall be made to move and shall become as if they were a mirage.اِنَّ جَہَنَّمَ کَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادًا ﴿۪ۙ۲۲﴾
Surely Hell lies in ambush,لِّلطَّاغِیۡنَ مَاٰبًا ﴿ۙ۲۳﴾
A home for the rebellious,لّٰبِثِیۡنَ فِیۡہَاۤ اَحۡقَابًا ﴿ۚ۲۴﴾
Who will tarry therein for ages.78:25

لَا یَذُوۡقُوۡنَ فِیۡہَا بَرۡدًا وَّلَا شَرَابًا ﴿ۙ۲۵﴾
[✲]They will taste therein neither sleep nor drink,78:26

اِلَّا حَمِیۡمًا وَّغَسَّاقًا ﴿ۙ۲۶﴾
[✲]Save boiling water and a stinking fluid —78:27

جَزَآءً وِّفَاقًا ﴿ؕ۲۷﴾
[✲]A meet requital.اِنَّہُمۡ کَانُوۡا لَا یَرۡجُوۡنَ حِسَابًا ﴿ۙ۲۸﴾
Verily, they feared not the reckoning,وَّکَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰیٰتِنَا کِذَّابًا ﴿ؕ۲۹﴾
And rejected Our Signs totally.وَکُلَّ شَیۡءٍ اَحۡصَیۡنٰہُ کِتٰبًا ﴿ۙ۳۰﴾
And every thing have We recorded in a Book.فَذُوۡقُوۡا فَلَنۡ نَّزِیۡدَکُمۡ اِلَّا عَذَابًا ﴿٪۳۱﴾
‘Taste ye therefore the punishment: We will give you no increase except in torment.’اِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِیۡنَ مَفَازًا ﴿ۙ۳۲﴾
Verily, for the righteous is a triumph:حَدَآئِقَ وَاَعۡنَابًا ﴿ۙ۳۳﴾
Walled gardens and grape-vines,وَّکَوَاعِبَ اَتۡرَابًا ﴿ۙ۳۴﴾
And young maidens of equal age,وَّکَاۡسًا دِہَاقًا ﴿ؕ۳۵﴾
And overflowing cups.لَا یَسۡمَعُوۡنَ فِیۡہَا لَغۡوًا وَّلَا کِذّٰبًا ﴿ۚ۳۶﴾
Therein they will hear no idle talk nor lying:جَزَآءً مِّنۡ رَّبِّکَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا ﴿ۙ۳۷﴾
A recompense from thy Lord — a gift in proportion to their works —78:38

رَّبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَہُمَا الرَّحۡمٰنِ لَا یَمۡلِکُوۡنَ مِنۡہُ خِطَابًا ﴿ۚ۳۸﴾
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Gracious. [✲]They shall not have the power to address Him.یَوۡمَ یَقُوۡمُ الرُّوۡحُ وَالۡمَلٰٓئِکَۃُ صَفًّا ؕ٭ۙ لَّا یَتَکَلَّمُوۡنَ اِلَّا مَنۡ اَذِنَ لَہُ الرَّحۡمٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا ﴿۳۹﴾
On the day when the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they shall not speak, except he whom the Gracious God will permit and who will speak only what is right.ذٰلِکَ الۡیَوۡمُ الۡحَقُّ ۚ فَمَنۡ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰی رَبِّہٖ مَاٰبًا ﴿۴۰﴾
That day is sure to come. So let him, who will, seek recourse unto his Lord.اِنَّاۤ اَنۡذَرۡنٰکُمۡ عَذَابًا قَرِیۡبًا ۬ۚۖ یَّوۡمَ یَنۡظُرُ الۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ یَدٰہُ وَیَقُوۡلُ الۡکٰفِرُ یٰلَیۡتَنِیۡ کُنۡتُ تُرٰبًا ﴿٪۴۱﴾
Verily, We have warned you of a punishment which is near at hand: a day when man will see what his hands have sent on before, and the disbeliever will say, ‘Would that I were mere dust!’Al-Naba’ — The Great News
