بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 76 · Medinan

32 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
ہَلۡ اَتٰی عَلَی الۡاِنۡسَانِ حِیۡنٌ مِّنَ الدَّہۡرِ لَمۡ یَکُنۡ شَیۡئًا مَّذۡکُوۡرًا ﴿۲﴾
There has certainly come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing spoken of.76:3

اِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنۡ نُّطۡفَۃٍ اَمۡشَاجٍ ٭ۖ نَّبۡتَلِیۡہِ فَجَعَلۡنٰہُ سَمِیۡعًۢا بَصِیۡرًا ﴿۳﴾
[✲]We have created man from a mingled sperm-drop that We might try him; so We made him hearing, seeing.اِنَّا ہَدَیۡنٰہُ السَّبِیۡلَ اِمَّا شَاکِرًا وَّاِمَّا کَفُوۡرًا ﴿۴﴾
We have shown him the Way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful.اِنَّاۤ اَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ سَلٰسِلَا۠ وَاَغۡلٰلًا وَّسَعِیۡرًا ﴿۵﴾
Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and iron-collars and a blazing Fire.اِنَّ الۡاَبۡرَارَ یَشۡرَبُوۡنَ مِنۡ کَاۡسٍ کَانَ مِزَاجُہَا کَافُوۡرًا ۚ﴿۶﴾
But the virtuous drink of a cup, tempered with camphor —عَیۡنًا یَّشۡرَبُ بِہَا عِبَادُ اللّٰہِ یُفَجِّرُوۡنَہَا تَفۡجِیۡرًا ﴿۷﴾
A spring wherefrom the servants of Allah drink. They make it gush forth — a forceful gushing forth.یُوۡفُوۡنَ بِالنَّذۡرِ وَیَخَافُوۡنَ یَوۡمًا کَانَ شَرُّہٗ مُسۡتَطِیۡرًا ﴿۸﴾
They fulfil their vow, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread.وَیُطۡعِمُوۡنَ الطَّعَامَ عَلٰی حُبِّہٖ مِسۡکِیۡنًا وَّیَتِیۡمًا وَّاَسِیۡرًا ﴿۹﴾
And they feed, for love of Him, the poor, the orphan, and the prisoner,اِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُکُمۡ لِوَجۡہِ اللّٰہِ لَا نُرِیۡدُ مِنۡکُمۡ جَزَآءً وَّلَا شُکُوۡرًا ﴿۱۰﴾
Saying, ‘We feed you for Allah’s pleasure only. We desire no reward nor thanks from you.اِنَّا نَخَافُ مِنۡ رَّبِّنَا یَوۡمًا عَبُوۡسًا قَمۡطَرِیۡرًا ﴿۱۱﴾
‘Verily, we fear from our Lord a frowning and distressful day.’فَوَقٰہُمُ اللّٰہُ شَرَّ ذٰلِکَ الۡیَوۡمِ وَلَقّٰہُمۡ نَضۡرَۃً وَّسُرُوۡرًا ﴿ۚ۱۲﴾
So Allah will save them from the evil of that day, and will grant them cheerfulness and happiness.وَجَزٰٮہُمۡ بِمَا صَبَرُوۡا جَنَّۃً وَّحَرِیۡرًا ﴿ۙ۱۳﴾
And He will reward them, for their steadfastness, with a Garden and a raiment of silk,مُّتَّکِـِٕیۡنَ فِیۡہَا عَلَی الۡاَرَآئِکِ ۚ لَا یَرَوۡنَ فِیۡہَا شَمۡسًا وَّلَا زَمۡہَرِیۡرًا ﴿ۚ۱۴﴾
Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither excessive heat nor excessive cold.وَدَانِیَۃً عَلَیۡہِمۡ ظِلٰلُہَا وَذُلِّلَتۡ قُطُوۡفُہَا تَذۡلِیۡلًا ﴿۱۵﴾
And its shades will be close over them, and its clustered fruits will be brought within easy reach.وَیُطَافُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ بِاٰنِیَۃٍ مِّنۡ فِضَّۃٍ وَّاَکۡوَابٍ کَانَتۡ قَؔوَارِیۡرَا۠ ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾
And vessels of silver will be passed round among them, and also goblets of glass,76:17

قَؔوَارِیۡرَا۠ مِنۡ فِضَّۃٍ قَدَّرُوۡہَا تَقۡدِیۡرًا ﴿۱۷﴾
[✲]Bright as glass but made of silver, which they will measure according to their own measure.وَیُسۡقَوۡنَ فِیۡہَا کَاۡسًا کَانَ مِزَاجُہَا زَنۡجَبِیۡلًا ﴿ۚ۱۸﴾
And therein will they be given to drink a cup tempered with ginger,عَیۡنًا فِیۡہَا تُسَمّٰی سَلۡسَبِیۡلًا ﴿۱۹﴾
From a spring therein named Salsabil.وَیَطُوۡفُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ وِلۡدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوۡنَ ۚ اِذَا رَاَیۡتَہُمۡ حَسِبۡتَہُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤًا مَّنۡثُوۡرًا ﴿۲۰﴾
And there will wait upon them youths who will not age. When thou seest them, thou thinkest them to be pearls scattered about.وَاِذَا رَاَیۡتَ ثَمَّ رَاَیۡتَ نَعِیۡمًا وَّمُلۡکًا کَبِیۡرًا ﴿۲۱﴾
And when thou seest thou wilt see there a bliss and a great kingdom.76:22

عٰلِیَہُمۡ ثِیَابُ سُنۡدُسٍ خُضۡرٌ وَّاِسۡتَبۡرَقٌ ۫ وَّحُلُّوۡۤا اَسَاوِرَ مِنۡ فِضَّۃٍ ۚ وَسَقٰہُمۡ رَبُّہُمۡ شَرَابًا طَہُوۡرًا ﴿۲۲﴾
[✲]On them will be garments of fine green silk and thick brocade. And they will be made to wear bracelets of silver. And their Lord will give them to drink a pure beverage.اِنَّ ہٰذَا کَانَ لَکُمۡ جَزَآءً وَّکَانَ سَعۡیُکُمۡ مَّشۡکُوۡرًا ﴿٪۲۳﴾
‘This is your reward, and your labour has been appreciated.’اِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡکَ الۡقُرۡاٰنَ تَنۡزِیۡلًا ﴿ۚ۲۴﴾
Surely, We have revealed unto thee the Qur’an piecemeal.فَاصۡبِرۡ لِحُکۡمِ رَبِّکَ وَلَا تُطِعۡ مِنۡہُمۡ اٰثِمًا اَوۡ کَفُوۡرًا ﴿ۚ۲۵﴾
So wait patiently for the judgment of thy Lord, and yield not to any one among them who is sinful or ungrateful.وَاذۡکُرِ اسۡمَ رَبِّکَ بُکۡرَۃً وَّاَصِیۡلًا ﴿ۖۚ۲۶﴾
And remember the name of thy Lord morning and evening.وَمِنَ الَّیۡلِ فَاسۡجُدۡ لَہٗ وَسَبِّحۡہُ لَیۡلًا طَوِیۡلًا ﴿۲۷﴾
And during the night prostrate thyself before Him, and extol His glory for a long part of the night.اِنَّ ہٰۤؤُلَآءِ یُحِبُّوۡنَ الۡعَاجِلَۃَ وَیَذَرُوۡنَ وَرَآءَہُمۡ یَوۡمًا ثَقِیۡلًا ﴿۲۸﴾
Verily, these people love the present life, and they neglect the hard day that is before them.نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنٰہُمۡ وَشَدَدۡنَاۤ اَسۡرَہُمۡ ۚ وَاِذَا شِئۡنَا بَدَّلۡنَاۤ اَمۡثَالَہُمۡ تَبۡدِیۡلًا ﴿۲۹﴾
We have created them and strengthened their make; and when We will, We can replace them by others like them.اِنَّ ہٰذِہٖ تَذۡکِرَۃٌ ۚ فَمَنۡ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰی رَبِّہٖ سَبِیۡلًا ﴿۳۰﴾
Verily, this is a Reminder. So whoever wishes, may take a way unto his Lord.76:31

وَمَا تَشَآءُوۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ یَّشَآءَ اللّٰہُ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ کَانَ عَلِیۡمًا حَکِیۡمًا ﴿٭ۖ۳۱﴾
[✲]And you exercise your will because Allah has so willed. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, Wise.یُّدۡخِلُ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ فِیۡ رَحۡمَتِہٖ ؕ وَالظّٰلِمِیۡنَ اَعَدَّ لَہُمۡ عَذَابًا اَلِیۡمًا ﴿٪۳۲﴾
He causes whom He pleases to enter His mercy, and for the wrongdoers He has prepared a painful punishment.Al-Dahr — Time
