بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 75 · Meccan
Al-Qiyamah
The Resurrection

41 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
لَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِیَوۡمِ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ۙ﴿۲﴾
Nay! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection.75:3

وَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِالنَّفۡسِ اللَّوَّامَۃِ ؕ﴿۳﴾
[✲]And I do call to witness the self-accusing soul, that the Day of Judgment is a certainty.اَیَحۡسَبُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ اَلَّنۡ نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَہٗ ؕ﴿۴﴾
Does man think that We shall not assemble his bones?بَلٰی قٰدِرِیۡنَ عَلٰۤی اَنۡ نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَہٗ ﴿۵﴾
Yea, We have the power to restore his very finger-tips.75:6

بَلۡ یُرِیۡدُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ لِیَفۡجُرَ اَمَامَہٗ ۚ﴿۶﴾
[✲]But man desires to continue to send forth evil deeds in front of him.یَسۡـَٔلُ اَیَّانَ یَوۡمُ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ؕ﴿۷﴾
He asks, ‘When will be the Day of Resurrection?’فَاِذَا بَرِقَ الۡبَصَرُ ۙ﴿۸﴾
When the eye is dazzled,وَخَسَفَ الۡقَمَرُ ۙ﴿۹﴾
And the moon is eclipsed,وَجُمِعَ الشَّمۡسُ وَالۡقَمَرُ ۙ﴿۱۰﴾
And the sun and the moon are brought together,یَقُوۡلُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ یَوۡمَئِذٍ اَیۡنَ الۡمَفَرُّ ﴿ۚ۱۱﴾
On that day man will say, ‘Whither to escape?’کَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ﴿ؕ۱۲﴾
Nay! There is no refuge!اِلٰی رَبِّکَ یَوۡمَئِذِ ۣالۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ﴿ؕ۱۳﴾
With thy Lord alone will be the place of rest that day.یُنَبَّؤُا الۡاِنۡسَانُ یَوۡمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَاَخَّرَ ﴿ؕ۱۴﴾
That day will man be informed of that which he has sent forward and left behind.75:15

بَلِ الۡاِنۡسَانُ عَلٰی نَفۡسِہٖ بَصِیۡرَۃٌ ﴿ۙ۱۵﴾
[✲]Nay, man is a witness against himself;وَّلَوۡ اَلۡقٰی مَعَاذِیۡرَہٗ ﴿ؕ۱۶﴾
Even though he puts forward his excuses.لَا تُحَرِّکۡ بِہٖ لِسَانَکَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِہٖ ﴿ؕ۱۷﴾
Move not thy tongue with this revelation that thou mayest hasten to preserve it.اِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا جَمۡعَہٗ وَقُرۡاٰنَہٗ ﴿ۚۖ۱۸﴾
Surely upon Us rests its collection and its recital.فَاِذَا قَرَاۡنٰہُ فَاتَّبِعۡ قُرۡاٰنَہٗ ﴿ۚ۱۹﴾
So when We recite it, then follow thou its recital.ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا بَیَانَہٗ ﴿ؕ۲۰﴾
Then upon Us rests the expounding thereof.75:21

کَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّوۡنَ الۡعَاجِلَۃَ ﴿ۙ۲۱﴾
[✲]Nay, but you love the present life;75:22

وَتَذَرُوۡنَ الۡاٰخِرَۃَ ﴿ؕ۲۲﴾
[✲]And you neglect the Hereafter.وُجُوۡہٌ یَّوۡمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَۃٌ ﴿ۙ۲۳﴾
Some faces on that day will be bright,اِلٰی رَبِّہَا نَاظِرَۃٌ ﴿ۚ۲۴﴾
Looking eagerly towards their Lord;وَوُجُوۡہٌ یَّوۡمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَۃٌ ﴿ۙ۲۵﴾
And some faces on that day will be dismal,تَظُنُّ اَنۡ یُّفۡعَلَ بِہَا فَاقِرَۃٌ ﴿ؕ۲۶﴾
Thinking that a back-breaking calamity is about to befall them.کَلَّاۤ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِیَ ﴿ۙ۲۷﴾
Aye! when the soul of the dying man comes up to the throat,وَقِیۡلَ مَنۡ ٜ رَاقٍ ﴿ۙ۲۸﴾
And it is said, ‘Who is the wizard to save him?’وَّظَنَّ اَنَّہُ الۡفِرَاقُ ﴿ۙ۲۹﴾
And he is sure that it is the hour of parting;وَالۡتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ ﴿ۙ۳۰﴾
And one shank rubs against another shank in agony;اِلٰی رَبِّکَ یَوۡمَئِذِ ۣالۡمَسَاقُ ﴿ؕ٪۳۱﴾
Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving.فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلّٰی ﴿ۙ۳۲﴾
For he neither accepted the truth, nor offered Prayers;وَلٰکِنۡ کَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰی ﴿ۙ۳۳﴾
But he rejected the truth and turned his back;ثُمَّ ذَہَبَ اِلٰۤی اَہۡلِہٖ یَتَمَطّٰی ﴿ؕ۳۴﴾
Then he went to his kinsfolk, strutting along.اَوۡلٰی لَکَ فَاَوۡلٰی ﴿ۙ۳۵﴾
‘Woe unto thee! and woe again!ثُمَّ اَوۡلٰی لَکَ فَاَوۡلٰی ﴿ؕ۳۶﴾
‘Then woe unto thee! and woe again!’75:37

اَیَحۡسَبُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ اَنۡ یُّتۡرَکَ سُدًی ﴿ؕ۳۷﴾
[✲]Does man think that he is to be left to himself uncontrolled?اَلَمۡ یَکُ نُطۡفَۃً مِّنۡ مَّنِیٍّ یُّمۡنٰی ﴿ۙ۳۸﴾
Was he not a drop of fluid, emitted forth?ثُمَّ کَانَ عَلَقَۃً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوّٰی ﴿ۙ۳۹﴾
Then he became a clot, then He shaped and perfected him.فَجَعَلَ مِنۡہُ الزَّوۡجَیۡنِ الذَّکَرَ وَالۡاُنۡثٰی ﴿ؕ۴۰﴾
Then He made of him a pair, the male and female.اَلَیۡسَ ذٰلِکَ بِقٰدِرٍ عَلٰۤی اَنۡ یُّحۡیِ یَ الۡمَوۡتٰی ﴿٪۴۱﴾
Has not such a One the power to raise the dead to life?Al-Qiyamah — The Resurrection
