بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾

The Sure Reality

53 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
اَلۡحَآقَّۃُ ۙ﴿۲﴾
The Inevitable!مَا الۡحَآقَّۃُ ۚ﴿۳﴾
What is the Inevitable?وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮکَ مَا الۡحَآقَّۃُ ؕ﴿۴﴾
And what should make thee know what the Inevitable is?69:5

کَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُوۡدُ وَعَادٌۢ بِالۡقَارِعَۃِ ﴿۵﴾
[✲]The tribe of Thamud and the tribe of ‘Ad treated as a lie the sudden calamity.فَاَمَّا ثَمُوۡدُ فَاُہۡلِکُوۡا بِالطَّاغِیَۃِ ﴿۶﴾
Then, as for Thamud, they were destroyed with a violent blast.وَاَمَّا عَادٌ فَاُہۡلِکُوۡا بِرِیۡحٍ صَرۡصَرٍ عَاتِیَۃٍ ۙ﴿۷﴾
And as for ‘Ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind,سَخَّرَہَا عَلَیۡہِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَیَالٍ وَّثَمٰنِیَۃَ اَیَّامٍ ۙ حُسُوۡمًا ۙ فَتَرَی الۡقَوۡمَ فِیۡہَا صَرۡعٰی ۙ کَاَنَّہُمۡ اَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِیَۃٍ ۚ﴿۸﴾
Which He caused to blow against them for seven nights and eight days consecutively, so that thou mightest have seen the people therein lying prostrate, as though they were trunks of palm-trees fallen down.فَہَلۡ تَرٰی لَہُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَاقِیَۃٍ ﴿۹﴾
Dost thou see any remnant of them?وَجَآءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَنۡ قَبۡلَہٗ وَالۡمُؤۡتَفِکٰتُ بِالۡخَاطِئَۃِ ۚ﴿۱۰﴾
And Pharaoh, and those who were before him, and the overthrown cities persistently committed sins.69:11

فَعَصَوۡا رَسُوۡلَ رَبِّہِمۡ فَاَخَذَہُمۡ اَخۡذَۃً رَّابِیَۃً ﴿۱۱﴾
[✲]And they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, therefore He seized them — a severe seizing.اِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا الۡمَآءُ حَمَلۡنٰکُمۡ فِی الۡجَارِیَۃِ ﴿ۙ۱۲﴾
Verily, when the waters rose high, We bore you in the boat,لِنَجۡعَلَہَا لَکُمۡ تَذۡکِرَۃً وَّتَعِیَہَاۤ اُذُنٌ وَّاعِیَۃٌ ﴿۱۳﴾
That We might make it a reminder for you, and that retaining ears might retain it.فَاِذَا نُفِخَ فِی الصُّوۡرِ نَفۡخَۃٌ وَّاحِدَۃٌ ﴿ۙ۱۴﴾
And when a single blast is sounded on the trumpet,وَّحُمِلَتِ الۡاَرۡضُ وَالۡجِبَالُ فَدُکَّتَا دَکَّۃً وَّاحِدَۃً ﴿ۙ۱۵﴾
And the earth and the mountains are heaved up and then crushed in a single crash,فَیَوۡمَئِذٍ وَّقَعَتِ الۡوَاقِعَۃُ ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾
On that day will the great Event come to pass.وَانۡشَقَّتِ السَّمَآءُ فَہِیَ یَوۡمَئِذٍ وَّاہِیَۃٌ ﴿ۙ۱۷﴾
And the heaven will cleave asunder, and it will become frail that day.69:18

وَّالۡمَلَکُ عَلٰۤی اَرۡجَآئِہَا ؕ وَیَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّکَ فَوۡقَہُمۡ یَوۡمَئِذٍ ثَمٰنِیَۃٌ ﴿ؕ۱۸﴾
[✲]And the angels will be standing on the sides thereof, and above them on that day eight angels will bear the throne of thy Lord.یَوۡمَئِذٍ تُعۡرَضُوۡنَ لَا تَخۡفٰی مِنۡکُمۡ خَافِیَۃٌ ﴿۱۹﴾
On that day you will be presented before God; and none of your secrets will remain hidden.فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِیَ کِتٰبَہٗ بِیَمِیۡنِہٖ ۙ فَیَقُوۡلُ ہَآؤُمُ اقۡرَءُوۡا کِتٰبِیَہۡ ﴿ۚ۲۰﴾
Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, ‘Come, read my record.اِنِّیۡ ظَنَنۡتُ اَنِّیۡ مُلٰقٍ حِسَابِیَہۡ ﴿ۚ۲۱﴾
‘Surely, I knew that I would meet my reckoning.’فَہُوَ فِیۡ عِیۡشَۃٍ رَّاضِیَۃٍ ﴿ۙ۲۲﴾
So he will have a delightful life,فِیۡ جَنَّۃٍ عَالِیَۃٍ ﴿ۙ۲۳﴾
In a lofty Garden,قُطُوۡفُہَا دَانِیَۃٌ ﴿۲۴﴾
Whereof clusters of fruit will be within easy reach.کُلُوۡا وَاشۡرَبُوۡا ہَنِیۡٓـئًۢا بِمَاۤ اَسۡلَفۡتُمۡ فِی الۡاَیَّامِ الۡخَالِیَۃِ ﴿۲۵﴾
‘Eat and drink joyfully because of the good deeds you did in days gone by.’وَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِیَ کِتٰبَہٗ بِشِمَالِہٖ ۬ۙ فَیَقُوۡلُ یٰلَیۡتَنِیۡ لَمۡ اُوۡتَ کِتٰبِیَہۡ ﴿ۚ۲۶﴾
But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, ‘O would that I had not been given my record!وَلَمۡ اَدۡرِ مَا حِسَابِیَہۡ ﴿ۚ۲۷﴾
‘Nor known what my reckoning was!69:28

یٰلَیۡتَہَا کَانَتِ الۡقَاضِیَۃَ ﴿ۚ۲۸﴾
[✲]‘O would that death had made an end of me!مَاۤ اَغۡنٰی عَنِّیۡ مَالِیَہۡ ﴿ۚ۲۹﴾
‘My wealth has been of no avail to me.ہَلَکَ عَنِّیۡ سُلۡطٰنِیَہۡ ﴿ۚ۳۰﴾
‘My power has perished from me.’خُذُوۡہُ فَغُلُّوۡہُ ﴿ۙ۳۱﴾
‘Seize him and fetter him,ثُمَّ الۡجَحِیۡمَ صَلُّوۡہُ ﴿ۙ۳۲﴾
‘Then cast him into Hell.ثُمَّ فِیۡ سِلۡسِلَۃٍ ذَرۡعُہَا سَبۡعُوۡنَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسۡلُکُوۡہُ ﴿ؕ۳۳﴾
‘Then put him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits;اِنَّہٗ کَانَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُ بِاللّٰہِ الۡعَظِیۡمِ ﴿ۙ۳۴﴾
‘Verily, he did not believe in Allah, the Great,وَلَا یَحُضُّ عَلٰی طَعَامِ الۡمِسۡکِیۡنِ ﴿ؕ۳۵﴾
‘And he did not urge the feeding of the poor.فَلَیۡسَ لَہُ الۡیَوۡمَ ہٰہُنَا حَمِیۡمٌ ﴿ۙ۳۶﴾
‘No friend, therefore, has he here this day;69:37

وَّلَا طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنۡ غِسۡلِیۡنٍ ﴿ۙ۳۷﴾
[✲]‘Nor any food save blood mixed with water,لَّا یَاۡکُلُہٗۤ اِلَّا الۡخَاطِـُٔوۡنَ ﴿٪۳۸﴾
‘Which none but the sinners eat.’فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِمَا تُبۡصِرُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۳۹﴾
But nay, I swear by all that you see,وَمَا لَا تُبۡصِرُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۴۰﴾
And by all that you see not,اِنَّہٗ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُوۡلٍ کَرِیۡمٍ ﴿ۚۙ۴۱﴾
That it is surely the word brought by a noble Messenger;وَّمَا ہُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَاعِرٍ ؕ قَلِیۡلًا مَّا تُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۴۲﴾
And it is not the word of a poet; little is it that you believe!وَلَا بِقَوۡلِ کَاہِنٍ ؕ قَلِیۡلًا مَّا تَذَکَّرُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۳﴾
Nor is it the word of a soothsayer; little is it that you heed!تَنۡزِیۡلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّ الۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿۴۴﴾
It is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.69:45

وَلَوۡ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَیۡنَا بَعۡضَ الۡاَقَاوِیۡلِ ﴿ۙ۴۵﴾
[✲]And if he had forged and attributed any sayings to Us,لَاَخَذۡنَا مِنۡہُ بِالۡیَمِیۡنِ ﴿ۙ۴۶﴾
We would surely have seized him by the right hand,69:47

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعۡنَا مِنۡہُ الۡوَتِیۡنَ ﴿۫ۖ۴۷﴾
[✲]And then surely We would have severed his life-artery,69:48

فَمَا مِنۡکُمۡ مِّنۡ اَحَدٍ عَنۡہُ حٰجِزِیۡنَ ﴿۴۸﴾
[✲]And not one of you could have held Us off from him.وَاِنَّہٗ لَتَذۡکِرَۃٌ لِّلۡمُتَّقِیۡنَ ﴿۴۹﴾
And verily it is a reminder for the righteous.وَاِنَّا لَنَعۡلَمُ اَنَّ مِنۡکُمۡ مُّکَذِّبِیۡنَ ﴿۵۰﴾
And, surely, We know that there are some among you who reject Our Signs.وَاِنَّہٗ لَحَسۡرَۃٌ عَلَی الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ ﴿۵۱﴾
And, verily, it will be a source of regret for the disbelievers.وَاِنَّہٗ لَحَقُّ الۡیَقِیۡنِ ﴿۵۲﴾
And surely, it is the true certainty.فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّکَ الۡعَظِیۡمِ ﴿٪۵۳﴾
So glorify the name of thy Lord, the Great.Al-Haqqah — The Sure Reality
