بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 52 · Meccan
Al-Tur
The Mount
الطور
50 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
وَالطُّوۡرِ ۙ﴿۲﴾
By the Mount;وَکِتٰبٍ مَّسۡطُوۡرٍ ۙ﴿۳﴾
And by the Book inscribedفِیۡ رَقٍّ مَّنۡشُوۡرٍ ۙ﴿۴﴾
On parchment unfolded;وَّالۡبَیۡتِ الۡمَعۡمُوۡرِ ۙ﴿۵﴾
And by the frequented House;وَالسَّقۡفِ الۡمَرۡفُوۡعِ ۙ﴿۶﴾
And by the elevated Roof;وَالۡبَحۡرِ الۡمَسۡجُوۡرِ ۙ﴿۷﴾
And by the swollen sea;اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّکَ لَوَاقِعٌ ۙ﴿۸﴾
The punishment of thy Lord shall certainly come to pass;مَّا لَہٗ مِنۡ دَافِعٍ ۙ﴿۹﴾
There is none that can avert it.52:10

یَّوۡمَ تَمُوۡرُ السَّمَآءُ مَوۡرًا ۙ﴿۱۰﴾
[✲]On the day when the heaven will heave with awful heaving,52:11

وَّتَسِیۡرُ الۡجِبَالُ سَیۡرًا ﴿ؕ۱۱﴾
[✲]And the mountains will move, with terrible moving,فَوَیۡلٌ یَّوۡمَئِذٍ لِّلۡمُکَذِّبِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۲﴾
Then woe that day to those who reject the truth,الَّذِیۡنَ ہُمۡ فِیۡ خَوۡضٍ یَّلۡعَبُوۡنَ ﴿ۘ۱۳﴾
Who sportingly indulge in idle talk.یَوۡمَ یُدَعُّوۡنَ اِلٰی نَارِ جَہَنَّمَ دَعًّا ﴿ؕ۱۴﴾
The day when they shall be thrust into the fire of Hell with a violent thrust.ہٰذِہِ النَّارُ الَّتِیۡ کُنۡتُمۡ بِہَا تُکَذِّبُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵﴾
‘This is the Fire which you treated as a lie.اَفَسِحۡرٌ ہٰذَاۤ اَمۡ اَنۡتُمۡ لَا تُبۡصِرُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۱۶﴾
‘Is this then magic, or do you not see?اِصۡلَوۡہَا فَاصۡبِرُوۡۤا اَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُوۡا ۚ سَوَآءٌ عَلَیۡکُمۡ ؕ اِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا کُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿۱۷﴾
‘Burn ye therein; and whether you show patience or you show it not, it will be the same for you. You are requited only for what you used to do.’اِنَّ الۡمُتَّقِیۡنَ فِیۡ جَنّٰتٍ وَّنَعِیۡمٍ ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾
Verily, the righteous are in Gardens and in bliss,فٰکِہِیۡنَ بِمَاۤ اٰتٰہُمۡ رَبُّہُمۡ ۚ وَوَقٰہُمۡ رَبُّہُمۡ عَذَابَ الۡجَحِیۡمِ ﴿۱۹﴾
Enjoying what their Lord has bestowed on them; and their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire.52:20

کُلُوۡا وَاشۡرَبُوۡا ہَنِیۡٓـًٔۢا بِمَا کُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۲۰﴾
[✲]‘Eat and drink in happiness because of what you used to do,مُتَّکِئِیۡنَ عَلٰی سُرُرٍ مَّصۡفُوۡفَۃٍ ۚ وَزَوَّجۡنٰہُمۡ بِحُوۡرٍ عِیۡنٍ ﴿۲۱﴾
‘Reclining on couches arranged in rows.’ And We shall consort them with fair maidens having wide, beautiful eyes.وَالَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَاتَّبَعَتۡہُمۡ ذُرِّیَّتُہُمۡ بِاِیۡمَانٍ اَلۡحَقۡنَا بِہِمۡ ذُرِّیَّتَہُمۡ وَمَاۤ اَلَتۡنٰہُمۡ مِّنۡ عَمَلِہِمۡ مِّنۡ شَیۡءٍ ؕ کُلُّ امۡرِیًٴۢ بِمَا کَسَبَ رَہِیۡنٌ ﴿۲۲﴾
And those who believe and whose children follow them in faith — with them shall We join their children. And We will not diminish anything from the reward of their works. Every man stands pledged for what he has earned.وَاَمۡدَدۡنٰہُمۡ بِفَاکِہَۃٍ وَّلَحۡمٍ مِّمَّا یَشۡتَہُوۡنَ ﴿۲۳﴾
And We shall bestow upon them an abundance of fruit and meat such as they will wish for.یَتَنَازَعُوۡنَ فِیۡہَا کَاۡسًا لَّا لَغۡوٌ فِیۡہَا وَلَا تَاۡثِیۡمٌ ﴿۲۴﴾
There they will pass from one to another a cup wherein is neither levity nor sin.وَیَطُوۡفُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ غِلۡمَانٌ لَّہُمۡ کَاَنَّہُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٌ مَّکۡنُوۡنٌ ﴿۲۵﴾
And there will wait upon them youths of their own, as though they were pearls well-preserved.وَاَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُہُمۡ عَلٰی بَعۡضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوۡنَ ﴿۲۶﴾
And they will turn to one another, asking mutual questions.قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّا کُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِیۡۤ اَہۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِیۡنَ ﴿۲۷﴾
They will say, ‘Before this, when we were among our family, we were very much afraid of God’s displeasure;فَمَنَّ اللّٰہُ عَلَیۡنَا وَوَقٰٮنَا عَذَابَ السَّمُوۡمِ ﴿۲۸﴾
‘But Allah has been gracious unto us and has saved us from the torment of the burning blast.اِنَّا کُنَّا مِنۡ قَبۡلُ نَدۡعُوۡہُ ؕ اِنَّہٗ ہُوَ الۡبَرُّ الرَّحِیۡمُ ﴿٪۲۹﴾
‘We used to pray to Him before. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful.’فَذَکِّرۡ فَمَاۤ اَنۡتَ بِنِعۡمَتِ رَبِّکَ بِکَاہِنٍ وَّلَا مَجۡنُوۡنٍ ﴿ؕ۳۰﴾
Admonish then. By the grace of thy Lord, thou art neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.اَمۡ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِہٖ رَیۡبَ الۡمَنُوۡنِ ﴿۳۱﴾
Do they say, ‘He is a poet; we are waiting for some calamity which time will bring upon him?’قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُوۡا فَاِنِّیۡ مَعَکُمۡ مِّنَ الۡمُتَرَبِّصِیۡنَ ﴿ؕ۳۲﴾
Say, ‘Await ye then! I too am with you among those who are waiting.’اَمۡ تَاۡمُرُہُمۡ اَحۡلَامُہُمۡ بِہٰذَاۤ اَمۡ ہُمۡ قَوۡمٌ طَاغُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۳۳﴾
Do their intellect and reason enjoin this upon them or are they a rebellious people?اَمۡ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ تَقَوَّلَہٗ ۚ بَلۡ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۳۴﴾
Do they say, ‘He has fabricated it?’ Nay, but they would not believe.52:35

فَلۡیَاۡتُوۡا بِحَدِیۡثٍ مِّثۡلِہٖۤ اِنۡ کَانُوۡا صٰدِقِیۡنَ ﴿ؕ۳۵﴾
[✲]Let them, then, bring forth an announcement like this, if they speak the truth!52:36

اَمۡ خُلِقُوۡا مِنۡ غَیۡرِ شَیۡءٍ اَمۡ ہُمُ الۡخٰلِقُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۳۶﴾
[✲]Have they been created for nothing, or are they themselves the creators?اَمۡ خَلَقُوا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ ۚ بَلۡ لَّا یُوۡقِنُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۳۷﴾
Did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no faith.اَمۡ عِنۡدَہُمۡ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّکَ اَمۡ ہُمُ الۡمُصَۜیۡطِرُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۳۸﴾
Do they own the treasures of thy Lord, or are they the guardians thereof ?اَمۡ لَہُمۡ سُلَّمٌ یَّسۡتَمِعُوۡنَ فِیۡہِ ۚ فَلۡیَاۡتِ مُسۡتَمِعُہُمۡ بِسُلۡطٰنٍ مُّبِیۡنٍ ﴿ؕ۳۹﴾
Have they a ladder unto heaven by means of which they can overhear? Then let their listener bring a manifest authority.اَمۡ لَہُ الۡبَنٰتُ وَلَکُمُ الۡبَنُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۰﴾
Has He daughters and you have sons?اَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُہُمۡ اَجۡرًا فَہُمۡ مِّنۡ مَّغۡرَمٍ مُّثۡقَلُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۱﴾
Dost thou ask a reward from them, so that they are weighed down with a load of debt?اَمۡ عِنۡدَہُمُ الۡغَیۡبُ فَہُمۡ یَکۡتُبُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۲﴾
Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they write it down?اَمۡ یُرِیۡدُوۡنَ کَیۡدًا ؕ فَالَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا ہُمُ الۡمَکِیۡدُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۳﴾
Do they intend a plot? But it is those who disbelieve that will be caught in the plot.اَمۡ لَہُمۡ اِلٰہٌ غَیۡرُ اللّٰہِ ؕ سُبۡحٰنَ اللّٰہِ عَمَّا یُشۡرِکُوۡنَ ﴿۴۴﴾
Have they a God other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above all that which they associate with Him!52:45

وَاِنۡ یَّرَوۡا کِسۡفًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا یَّقُوۡلُوۡا سَحَابٌ مَّرۡکُوۡمٌ ﴿۴۵﴾
[✲]And if they should see a piece of the cloud falling down, they would say, ‘Clouds piled up.’52:46

فَذَرۡہُمۡ حَتّٰی یُلٰقُوۡا یَوۡمَہُمُ الَّذِیۡ فِیۡہِ یُصۡعَقُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۴۶﴾
[✲]So leave them until they meet that day of theirs, on which they will be overtaken by a thunderbolt,یَوۡمَ لَا یُغۡنِیۡ عَنۡہُمۡ کَیۡدُہُمۡ شَیۡئًا وَّلَا ہُمۡ یُنۡصَرُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۴۷﴾
The day when their plotting will not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped.وَاِنَّ لِلَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا عَذَابًا دُوۡنَ ذٰلِکَ وَلٰکِنَّ اَکۡثَرَہُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۴۸﴾
And verily, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that. But most of them know not.وَاصۡبِرۡ لِحُکۡمِ رَبِّکَ فَاِنَّکَ بِاَعۡیُنِنَا وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّکَ حِیۡنَ تَقُوۡمُ ﴿ۙ۴۹﴾
So wait patiently for the judgment of thy Lord; for assuredly thou art before Our eyes; and glorify thy Lord with His praise when thou risest up from sleep;وَمِنَ الَّیۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡہُ وَاِدۡبَارَ النُّجُوۡمِ ﴿٪۵۰﴾
And for part of the night also do thou glorify Him and at the setting of the stars.Al-Tur — The Mount
