بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 48 · Medinan
Al-Fath
The Victory
الفتح
30 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
اِنَّا فَتَحۡنَا لَکَ فَتۡحًا مُّبِیۡنًا ۙ﴿۲﴾
Verily, We have granted thee a clear victory,لِّیَغۡفِرَ لَکَ اللّٰہُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنۡ ذَنۡۢبِکَ وَمَا تَاَخَّرَ وَیُتِمَّ نِعۡمَتَہٗ عَلَیۡکَ وَیَہۡدِیَکَ صِرَاطًا مُّسۡتَقِیۡمًا ۙ﴿۳﴾
That Allah may cover up for thee thy shortcomings, past and future, and that He may complete His favour upon thee, and may guide thee on a right path;وَّیَنۡصُرَکَ اللّٰہُ نَصۡرًا عَزِیۡزًا ﴿۴﴾
And that Allah may help thee with a mighty help.ہُوَ الَّذِیۡۤ اَنۡزَلَ السَّکِیۡنَۃَ فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ لِیَزۡدَادُوۡۤا اِیۡمَانًا مَّعَ اِیۡمَانِہِمۡ ؕ وَلِلّٰہِ جُنُوۡدُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ ؕ وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ عَلِیۡمًا حَکِیۡمًا ۙ﴿۵﴾
He it is Who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they might add faith to their faith — and to Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is All-knowing, Wise —لِّیُدۡخِلَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ جَنّٰتٍ تَجۡرِیۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِہَا الۡاَنۡہٰرُ خٰلِدِیۡنَ فِیۡہَا وَیُکَفِّرَ عَنۡہُمۡ سَیِّاٰتِہِمۡ ؕ وَکَانَ ذٰلِکَ عِنۡدَ اللّٰہِ فَوۡزًا عَظِیۡمًا ۙ﴿۶﴾
That He may make the believing men and the believing women enter the Gardens beneath which streams flow, wherein they will abide, and that He may remove their evils from them — and that, in the sight of Allah, is the supreme triumph —48:7

وَّیُعَذِّبَ الۡمُنٰفِقِیۡنَ وَالۡمُنٰفِقٰتِ وَالۡمُشۡرِکِیۡنَ وَالۡمُشۡرِکٰتِ الظَّآنِّیۡنَ بِاللّٰہِ ظَنَّ السَّوۡءِ ؕ عَلَیۡہِمۡ دَآئِرَۃُ السَّوۡءِ ۚ وَغَضِبَ اللّٰہُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ وَلَعَنَہُمۡ وَاَعَدَّ لَہُمۡ جَہَنَّمَ ؕ وَسَآءَتۡ مَصِیۡرًا ﴿۷﴾
And that He may punish the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women, and the idolatrous men and the idolatrous women, who entertain evil thoughts concerning Allah. [✲]On them shall fall an evil calamity; and the wrath of Allah is upon them. And He has cursed them, and has prepared Hell for them. And that indeed is an evil destination.وَلِلّٰہِ جُنُوۡدُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ ؕ وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ عَزِیۡزًا حَکِیۡمًا ﴿۸﴾
And to Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنٰکَ شَاہِدًا وَّمُبَشِّرًا وَّنَذِیۡرًا ۙ﴿۹﴾
We have sent thee as a Witness and a bearer of glad tidings and a Warner,لِّتُؤۡمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰہِ وَرَسُوۡلِہٖ وَتُعَزِّرُوۡہُ وَتُوَقِّرُوۡہُ ؕ وَتُسَبِّحُوۡہُ بُکۡرَۃً وَّاَصِیۡلًا ﴿۱۰﴾
That you should believe in Allah and His Messenger, and may help him, and honour him, and that you may glorify Him morning and evening.اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یُبَایِعُوۡنَکَ اِنَّمَا یُبَایِعُوۡنَ اللّٰہَ ؕ یَدُ اللّٰہِ فَوۡقَ اَیۡدِیۡہِمۡ ۚ فَمَنۡ نَّکَثَ فَاِنَّمَا یَنۡکُثُ عَلٰی نَفۡسِہٖ ۚ وَمَنۡ اَوۡفٰی بِمَا عٰہَدَ عَلَیۡہُ اللّٰہَ فَسَیُؤۡتِیۡہِ اَجۡرًا عَظِیۡمًا ﴿٪۱۱﴾
Verily, those who swear allegiance to thee indeed swear allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So whoever breaks his oath, breaks it to his own loss; and whoever fulfils the covenant that he has made with Allah, He will surely give him a great reward.سَیَقُوۡلُ لَکَ الۡمُخَلَّفُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡاَعۡرَابِ شَغَلَتۡنَاۤ اَمۡوَالُنَا وَاَہۡلُوۡنَا فَاسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ۚ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ بِاَلۡسِنَتِہِمۡ مَّا لَیۡسَ فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِہِمۡ ؕ قُلۡ فَمَنۡ یَّمۡلِکُ لَکُمۡ مِّنَ اللّٰہِ شَیۡئًا اِنۡ اَرَادَ بِکُمۡ ضَرًّا اَوۡ اَرَادَ بِکُمۡ نَفۡعًا ؕ بَلۡ کَانَ اللّٰہُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ خَبِیۡرًا ﴿۱۲﴾
Those of the desert Arabs, who were left behind, will say to thee, ‘Our possessions and our families kept us occupied, so ask forgiveness for us.’ They say with their tongues that which is not in their hearts. Say, ‘Who can avail you aught against Allah, if He intends you some harm, or if He intends you some benefit? Nay, Allah is Well-Aware of what you do.48:13

بَلۡ ظَنَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡ لَّنۡ یَّنۡقَلِبَ الرَّسُوۡلُ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ اِلٰۤی اَہۡلِیۡہِمۡ اَبَدًا وَّزُیِّنَ ذٰلِکَ فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِکُمۡ وَظَنَنۡتُمۡ ظَنَّ السَّوۡءِ ۚۖ وَکُنۡتُمۡ قَوۡمًۢا بُوۡرًا ﴿۱۳﴾
‘Nay, you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never come back to their families, and that was made to appear pleasing to your hearts, [✲]and you thought an evil thought, and you were a ruined people.’وَمَنۡ لَّمۡ یُؤۡمِنۡۢ بِاللّٰہِ وَرَسُوۡلِہٖ فَاِنَّاۤ اَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ سَعِیۡرًا ﴿۱۴﴾
And as for those who believe not in Allah and His Messenger — We have surely prepared for the disbelievers a blazing fire.وَلِلّٰہِ مُلۡکُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ ؕ یَغۡفِرُ لِمَنۡ یَّشَآءُ وَیُعَذِّبُ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ ؕ وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ غَفُوۡرًا رَّحِیۡمًا ﴿۱۵﴾
And to Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He pleases, and punishes whom He pleases. And Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.سَیَقُوۡلُ الۡمُخَلَّفُوۡنَ اِذَا انۡطَلَقۡتُمۡ اِلٰی مَغَانِمَ لِتَاۡخُذُوۡہَا ذَرُوۡنَا نَتَّبِعۡکُمۡ ۚ یُرِیۡدُوۡنَ اَنۡ یُّبَدِّلُوۡا کَلٰمَ اللّٰہِ ؕ قُلۡ لَّنۡ تَتَّبِعُوۡنَا کَذٰلِکُمۡ قَالَ اللّٰہُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ ۚ فَسَیَقُوۡلُوۡنَ بَلۡ تَحۡسُدُوۡنَنَا ؕ بَلۡ کَانُوۡا لَا یَفۡقَہُوۡنَ اِلَّا قَلِیۡلًا ﴿۱۶﴾
Those who had managed to be left behind will say, when you go forth to the spoils that you may get them, ‘Let us follow you.’ They seek to change the decree of Allah. Say, ‘You shall not follow us. Thus has Allah said beforehand.’ Then they will say, ‘Nay, but you envy us.’ Not so, but they understand not except a little.قُلۡ لِّلۡمُخَلَّفِیۡنَ مِنَ الۡاَعۡرَابِ سَتُدۡعَوۡنَ اِلٰی قَوۡمٍ اُولِیۡ بَاۡسٍ شَدِیۡدٍ تُقَاتِلُوۡنَہُمۡ اَوۡ یُسۡلِمُوۡنَ ۚ فَاِنۡ تُطِیۡعُوۡا یُؤۡتِکُمُ اللّٰہُ اَجۡرًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَاِنۡ تَتَوَلَّوۡا کَمَا تَوَلَّیۡتُمۡ مِّنۡ قَبۡلُ یُعَذِّبۡکُمۡ عَذَابًا اَلِیۡمًا ﴿۱۷﴾
Say to the desert Arabs who were left behind, ‘You shall be called to fight against a people of mighty valour; you shall fight them until they surrender. Then, if you obey, Allah will give you a good reward, but if you turn your backs, as you turned your backs before, He will punish you with a painful punishment.’لَیۡسَ عَلَی الۡاَعۡمٰی حَرَجٌ وَّلَا عَلَی الۡاَعۡرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَّلَا عَلَی الۡمَرِیۡضِ حَرَجٌ ؕ وَمَنۡ یُّطِعِ اللّٰہَ وَرَسُوۡلَہٗ یُدۡخِلۡہُ جَنّٰتٍ تَجۡرِیۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِہَا الۡاَنۡہٰرُ ۚ وَمَنۡ یَّتَوَلَّ یُعَذِّبۡہُ عَذَابًا اَلِیۡمًا ﴿٪۱۸﴾
There is no blame on the blind, nor is there blame on the lame, nor is there blame on the sick, if they go not forth for fight. And whoso obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will make him enter the Gardens beneath which streams flow; but whoso turns his back, him will He punish with a grievous punishment.لَقَدۡ رَضِیَ اللّٰہُ عَنِ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ اِذۡ یُبَایِعُوۡنَکَ تَحۡتَ الشَّجَرَۃِ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِہِمۡ فَاَنۡزَلَ السَّکِیۡنَۃَ عَلَیۡہِمۡ وَاَثَابَہُمۡ فَتۡحًا قَرِیۡبًا ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾
Surely, Allah was well pleased with the believers when they were swearing allegiance to thee under the Tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down tranquillity on them, and He rewarded them with a victory near at hand;وَّمَغَانِمَ کَثِیۡرَۃً یَّاۡخُذُوۡنَہَا ؕ وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ عَزِیۡزًا حَکِیۡمًا ﴿۲۰﴾
And great spoils that they will take. And Allah is Mighty, Wise.وَعَدَکُمُ اللّٰہُ مَغَانِمَ کَثِیۡرَۃً تَاۡخُذُوۡنَہَا فَعَجَّلَ لَکُمۡ ہٰذِہٖ وَکَفَّ اَیۡدِیَ النَّاسِ عَنۡکُمۡ ۚ وَلِتَکُوۡنَ اٰیَۃً لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ وَیَہۡدِیَکُمۡ صِرَاطًا مُّسۡتَقِیۡمًا ﴿ۙ۲۱﴾
Allah has promised you great spoils that you will take, and He has given you this in advance, and has restrained the hands of men from you, that it may be a Sign for the believers, and that He may guide you on a right path.وَّاُخۡرٰی لَمۡ تَقۡدِرُوۡا عَلَیۡہَا قَدۡ اَحَاطَ اللّٰہُ بِہَا ؕ وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیۡءٍ قَدِیۡرًا ﴿۲۲﴾
And He has promised you another victory, which you have not yet been able to achieve, but Allah has surely compassed it. And Allah has power over all things.وَلَوۡ قٰتَلَکُمُ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا لَوَلَّوُا الۡاَدۡبَارَ ثُمَّ لَا یَجِدُوۡنَ وَلِیًّا وَّلَا نَصِیۡرًا ﴿۲۳﴾
And if those who disbelieve should fight you, they would certainly turn their backs; then they would find neither protector nor helper.48:24

سُنَّۃَ اللّٰہِ الَّتِیۡ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ ۚۖ وَلَنۡ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّۃِ اللّٰہِ تَبۡدِیۡلًا ﴿۲۴﴾
[✲]Such is the law of Allah that has been in operation before; and thou shalt not find any change in the law of Allah.وَہُوَ الَّذِیۡ کَفَّ اَیۡدِیَہُمۡ عَنۡکُمۡ وَاَیۡدِیَکُمۡ عَنۡہُمۡ بِبَطۡنِ مَکَّۃَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ اَنۡ اَظۡفَرَکُمۡ عَلَیۡہِمۡ ؕ وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ بَصِیۡرًا ﴿۲۵﴾
And He it is Who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them in the valley of Mecca, after He had given you victory over them. And Allah sees all that you do.ہُمُ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا وَصَدُّوۡکُمۡ عَنِ الۡمَسۡجِدِ الۡحَرَامِ وَالۡہَدۡیَ مَعۡکُوۡفًا اَنۡ یَّبۡلُغَ مَحِلَّہٗ ؕ وَلَوۡلَا رِجَالٌ مُّؤۡمِنُوۡنَ وَنِسَآءٌ مُّؤۡمِنٰتٌ لَّمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡہُمۡ اَنۡ تَطَـُٔوۡہُمۡ فَتُصِیۡبَکُمۡ مِّنۡہُمۡ مَّعَرَّۃٌۢ بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمٍ ۚ لِیُدۡخِلَ اللّٰہُ فِیۡ رَحۡمَتِہٖ مَنۡ یَّشَآءُ ۚ لَوۡ تَزَیَّلُوۡا لَعَذَّبۡنَا الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا مِنۡہُمۡ عَذَابًا اَلِیۡمًا ﴿۲۶﴾
It is they who disbelieved and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque and the offering which was prevented from reaching its place of sacrifice. And had it not been for believing men and believing women whom you knew not and whom you might have trampled down so that harm might have come to you on their account unknowingly, He would have permitted you to fight, but He did not do so that He might admit into His mercy whom He will. If they had been separated from the disbelievers, We would have surely punished those of them who disbelieved with a grievous punishment.48:27

اِذۡ جَعَلَ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِہِمُ الۡحَمِیَّۃَ حَمِیَّۃَ الۡجَاہِلِیَّۃِ فَاَنۡزَلَ اللّٰہُ سَکِیۡنَتَہٗ عَلٰی رَسُوۡلِہٖ وَعَلَی الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ وَاَلۡزَمَہُمۡ کَلِمَۃَ التَّقۡوٰی وَکَانُوۡۤا اَحَقَّ بِہَا وَاَہۡلَہَا ؕ وَکَانَ اللّٰہُ بِکُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیۡمًا ﴿٪۲۷﴾
When those who disbelieved harboured in their hearts prideful indignation, the indignation of the Days of Ignorance, Allah sent down His tranquillity on His Messenger and on the believers, [✲]and made them cleave to the principle of righteousness, and they were better entitled to it and more worthy of it. And Allah knows everything full well.لَقَدۡ صَدَقَ اللّٰہُ رَسُوۡلَہُ الرُّءۡیَا بِالۡحَقِّ ۚ لَتَدۡخُلُنَّ الۡمَسۡجِدَ الۡحَرَامَ اِنۡ شَآءَ اللّٰہُ اٰمِنِیۡنَ ۙ مُحَلِّقِیۡنَ رُءُوۡسَکُمۡ وَمُقَصِّرِیۡنَ ۙ لَا تَخَافُوۡنَ ؕ فَعَلِمَ مَا لَمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡا فَجَعَلَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ ذٰلِکَ فَتۡحًا قَرِیۡبًا ﴿۲۸﴾
Surely has Allah in truth fulfilled for His Messenger the Vision. You will certainly enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allah will, in security, some having their heads shaven, and others having their hair cut short; and you will have no fear. But He knew what you knew not. He has in fact ordained for you, besides that, a victory near at hand.ہُوَ الَّذِیۡۤ اَرۡسَلَ رَسُوۡلَہٗ بِالۡہُدٰی وَدِیۡنِ الۡحَقِّ لِیُظۡہِرَہٗ عَلَی الدِّیۡنِ کُلِّہٖ ؕ وَکَفٰی بِاللّٰہِ شَہِیۡدًا ﴿ؕ۲۹﴾
He it is Who has sent His Messenger, with guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may make it prevail over all other religions. And sufficient is Allah as a Witness.48:30

مُحَمَّدٌ رَّسُوۡلُ اللّٰہِ ؕ وَالَّذِیۡنَ مَعَہٗۤ اَشِدَّآءُ عَلَی الۡکُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَیۡنَہُمۡ تَرٰٮہُمۡ رُکَّعًا سُجَّدًا یَّبۡتَغُوۡنَ فَضۡلًا مِّنَ اللّٰہِ وَرِضۡوَانًا ۫ سِیۡمَاہُمۡ فِیۡ وُجُوۡہِہِمۡ مِّنۡ اَثَرِ السُّجُوۡدِ ؕ ذٰلِکَ مَثَلُہُمۡ فِی التَّوۡرٰٮۃِ ۚۖۛ وَمَثَلُہُمۡ فِی الۡاِنۡجِیۡلِ ۚ۟ۛ کَزَرۡعٍ اَخۡرَجَ شَطۡـَٔہٗ فَاٰزَرَہٗ فَاسۡتَغۡلَظَ فَاسۡتَوٰی عَلٰی سُوۡقِہٖ یُعۡجِبُ الزُّرَّاعَ لِیَغِیۡظَ بِہِمُ الۡکُفَّارَ ؕ وَعَدَ اللّٰہُ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ مِنۡہُمۡ مَّغۡفِرَۃً وَّاَجۡرًا عَظِیۡمًا ﴿٪۳۰﴾
[✲]Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those who are with him are hard against the disbelievers, tender among themselves. Thou seest them bowing and prostrating themselves in Prayer, seeking grace from Allah and His pleasure. Their mark is upon their faces, being the traces of prostrations. This is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is like unto a seed-produce that sends forth its sprout, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and stands firm on its stem, delighting the sowers — that He may cause the disbelievers to burn with rage at the sight of them. Allah has promised, unto those of them who believe and do good works, forgiveness and a great reward.Al-Fath — The Victory
