بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾

73:2

یٰۤاَیُّہَا الۡمُزَّمِّلُ ۙ﴿۲﴾
[✲]O thou who art bearing a heavy responsibility,قُمِ الَّیۡلَ اِلَّا قَلِیۡلًا ۙ﴿۳﴾
Stand up in Prayer at night except a small portion thereof —نِّصۡفَہٗۤ اَوِ انۡقُصۡ مِنۡہُ قَلِیۡلًا ۙ﴿۴﴾
Half of it, or make it a little less than thatاَوۡ زِدۡ عَلَیۡہِ وَرَتِّلِ الۡقُرۡاٰنَ تَرۡتِیۡلًا ؕ﴿۵﴾
Or make it a little more than that — and recite the Qur’an slowly and thoughtfully.اِنَّا سَنُلۡقِیۡ عَلَیۡکَ قَوۡلًا ثَقِیۡلًا ﴿۶﴾
Verily, We are charging thee with a weighty Word.اِنَّ نَاشِئَۃَ الَّیۡلِ ہِیَ اَشَدُّ وَطۡاً وَّاَقۡوَمُ قِیۡلًا ؕ﴿۷﴾
Verily, getting up at night is the most potent means of subduing the self and most effective in respect of words of prayer.اِنَّ لَکَ فِی النَّہَارِ سَبۡحًا طَوِیۡلًا ؕ﴿۸﴾
Thou hast indeed, during the day, a long chain of engagements.وَاذۡکُرِ اسۡمَ رَبِّکَ وَتَبَتَّلۡ اِلَیۡہِ تَبۡتِیۡلًا ؕ﴿۹﴾
So remember the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with full devotion.رَبُّ الۡمَشۡرِقِ وَالۡمَغۡرِبِ لَاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ہُوَ فَاتَّخِذۡہُ وَکِیۡلًا ﴿۱۰﴾
He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no God but He; so take Him as thy Guardian.وَاصۡبِرۡ عَلٰی مَا یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ وَاہۡجُرۡہُمۡ ہَجۡرًا جَمِیۡلًا ﴿۱۱﴾
And bear patiently all that they say; and part with them in a decent manner.وَذَرۡنِیۡ وَالۡمُکَذِّبِیۡنَ اُولِی النَّعۡمَۃِ وَمَہِّلۡہُمۡ قَلِیۡلًا ﴿۱۲﴾
And leave Me alone with those who reject the truth, possessors of ease and plenty; and give them a little respite.اِنَّ لَدَیۡنَاۤ اَنۡکَالًا وَّجَحِیۡمًا ﴿ۙ۱۳﴾
Surely, with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire,وَّطَعَامًا ذَا غُصَّۃٍ وَّعَذَابًا اَلِیۡمًا ﴿٭۱۴﴾
And food that chokes, and a painful punishment —یَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ الۡاَرۡضُ وَالۡجِبَالُ وَکَانَتِ الۡجِبَالُ کَثِیۡبًا مَّہِیۡلًا ﴿۱۵﴾
On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains will become like crumbling sandhills.اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ اِلَیۡکُمۡ رَسُوۡلًا ۬ۙ شَاہِدًا عَلَیۡکُمۡ کَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ اِلٰی فِرۡعَوۡنَ رَسُوۡلًا ﴿ؕ۱۶﴾
Verily, We have sent to you a Messenger, who is a witness over you, even as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh.فَعَصٰی فِرۡعَوۡنُ الرَّسُوۡلَ فَاَخَذۡنٰہُ اَخۡذًا وَّبِیۡلًا ﴿۱۷﴾
But Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing.73:18

فَکَیۡفَ تَتَّقُوۡنَ اِنۡ کَفَرۡتُمۡ یَوۡمًا یَّجۡعَلُ الۡوِلۡدَانَ شِیۡبَا ﴿٭ۖ۱۸﴾
[✲]How will you then, if you disbelieve, guard yourselves against a day which will turn children greyheaded?ۣالسَّمَآءُ مُنۡفَطِرٌۢ بِہٖ ؕ کَانَ وَعۡدُہٗ مَفۡعُوۡلًا ﴿۱۹﴾
On that day the heaven will be rent asunder and His promise will be fulfilled.اِنَّ ہٰذِہٖ تَذۡکِرَۃٌ ۚ فَمَنۡ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰی رَبِّہٖ سَبِیۡلًا ﴿٪۲۰﴾
This, surely, is a reminder. So let him, who will, take a way unto his Lord.اِنَّ رَبَّکَ یَعۡلَمُ اَنَّکَ تَقُوۡمُ اَدۡنٰی مِنۡ ثُلُثَیِ الَّیۡلِ وَنِصۡفَہٗ وَثُلُثَہٗ وَطَآئِفَۃٌ مِّنَ الَّذِیۡنَ مَعَکَ ؕ وَاللّٰہُ یُقَدِّرُ الَّیۡلَ وَالنَّہَارَ ؕ عَلِمَ اَنۡ لَّنۡ تُحۡصُوۡہُ فَتَابَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ فَاقۡرَءُوۡا مَا تَیَسَّرَ مِنَ الۡقُرۡاٰنِ ؕ عَلِمَ اَنۡ سَیَکُوۡنُ مِنۡکُمۡ مَّرۡضٰی ۙ وَاٰخَرُوۡنَ یَضۡرِبُوۡنَ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ یَبۡتَغُوۡنَ مِنۡ فَضۡلِ اللّٰہِ ۙ وَاٰخَرُوۡنَ یُقَاتِلُوۡنَ فِیۡ سَبِیۡلِ اللّٰہِ ۫ۖ فَاقۡرَءُوۡا مَا تَیَسَّرَ مِنۡہُ ۙ وَاَقِیۡمُوا الصَّلٰوۃَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّکٰوۃَ وَاَقۡرِضُوا اللّٰہَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنًا ؕ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوۡا لِاَنۡفُسِکُمۡ مِّنۡ خَیۡرٍ تَجِدُوۡہُ عِنۡدَ اللّٰہِ ہُوَ خَیۡرًا وَّاَعۡظَمَ اَجۡرًا ؕ وَاسۡتَغۡفِرُوا اللّٰہَ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ ﴿٪۲۱﴾
Surely, thy Lord knows that thou standest up praying for nearly two-thirds of the night, and sometimes half or a third thereof, and also a party of those who are with thee. And Allah determines the measure of the night and the day. He knows that you cannot keep its measure, so He has turned to you in mercy. Recite, then, as much of the Qur’an as is easy for you. He knows that there will be some among you who may be sick and others who may travel in the land seeking Allah’s bounty, and others who may fight in the cause of Allah. So recite of it that which is easy for you, and observe Prayer, and pay the Zakat, and lend to Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you send on before you for your souls, you will find it with Allah. It will be better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Surely, Allah is Most For-giving, Merciful.Al-Muzzammil — The Folded-up
