بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ ﴿۱﴾
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.Surah 37 · Meccan
Al-Saffat
Those Ranged in Ranks
الصافات
183 verses · Maulawi Sher Ali translation
وَالصّٰٓفّٰتِ صَفًّا ۙ﴿۲﴾
By those who range themselves in close ranks,فَالزّٰجِرٰتِ زَجۡرًا ۙ﴿۳﴾
Then they drive away the enemy vigorously,فَالتّٰلِیٰتِ ذِکۡرًا ۙ﴿۴﴾
Then they recite the Qur’an as a Reminder,اِنَّ اِلٰـہَکُمۡ لَوَاحِدٌ ﴿ؕ۵﴾
Surely your God is One,رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَہُمَا وَرَبُّ الۡمَشَارِقِ ؕ﴿۶﴾
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them and the Lord of the sun’s risings.37:7

اِنَّا زَیَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنۡیَا بِزِیۡنَۃِ ۣالۡکَوَاکِبِ ۙ﴿۷﴾
[✲]We have adorned the lowest heaven with an adornment — the planets;وَحِفۡظًا مِّنۡ کُلِّ شَیۡطٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ ۚ﴿۸﴾
And have guarded it against all rebellious satans.37:9

لَا یَسَّمَّعُوۡنَ اِلَی الۡمَلَاِ الۡاَعۡلٰی وَیُقۡذَفُوۡنَ مِنۡ کُلِّ جَانِبٍ ٭ۖ﴿۹﴾
[✲]They cannot hear anything from the exalted assembly of angels — and they are pelted from every side,دُحُوۡرًا وَّلَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ وَّاصِبٌ ۙ﴿۱۰﴾
Repulsed, and for them is a perpetual punishment —اِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ الۡخَطۡفَۃَ فَاَتۡبَعَہٗ شِہَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ ﴿۱۱﴾
Except him who snatches away something by stealth, and then there pursues him a piercing flame of fire.37:12

فَاسۡتَفۡتِہِمۡ اَہُمۡ اَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا اَمۡ مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَا ؕ اِنَّا خَلَقۡنٰہُمۡ مِّنۡ طِیۡنٍ لَّازِبٍ ﴿۱۲﴾
[✲]So ask them whether it is they who are harder to create, or others whom We have created? Them We have created of cohesive clay.بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَیَسۡخَرُوۡنَ ﴿۪۱۳﴾
Nay, thou dost wonder, and they ridicule.وَاِذَا ذُکِّرُوۡا لَا یَذۡکُرُوۡنَ ﴿۪۱۴﴾
And when they are admonished, they pay no heed.وَاِذَا رَاَوۡا اٰیَۃً یَّسۡتَسۡخِرُوۡنَ ﴿۪۱۵﴾
And when they see a Sign, they seek to ridicule it.وَقَالُوۡۤا اِنۡ ہٰذَاۤ اِلَّا سِحۡرٌ مُّبِیۡنٌ ﴿ۚۖ۱۶﴾
And they say, ‘This is nothing but plain magic.ءَاِذَا مِتۡنَا وَکُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوۡثُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۷﴾
‘What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be raised up again?اَوَاٰبَآؤُنَا الۡاَوَّلُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۱۸﴾
‘And our forefathers of yore also?’قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَاَنۡتُمۡ دَاخِرُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۱۹﴾
Say, ‘Yea; and you will then be abased.’37:20

فَاِنَّمَا ہِیَ زَجۡرَۃٌ وَّاحِدَۃٌ فَاِذَا ہُمۡ یَنۡظُرُوۡنَ ﴿۲۰﴾
[✲]Then it will be but one shout of reproach, and behold, they will begin to see.وَقَالُوۡا یٰوَیۡلَنَا ہٰذَا یَوۡمُ الدِّیۡنِ ﴿۲۱﴾
And they will say, ‘Alas for us! this is the Day of Requital.ہٰذَا یَوۡمُ الۡفَصۡلِ الَّذِیۡ کُنۡتُمۡ بِہٖ تُکَذِّبُوۡنَ ﴿٪۲۲﴾
‘This is the Day of the final decision which you used to deny.’اُحۡشُرُوا الَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا وَاَزۡوَاجَہُمۡ وَمَا کَانُوۡا یَعۡبُدُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۲۳﴾
And it will be said to the angels, ‘Assemble those who acted wrongfully, along with their companions, and what they used to worshipمِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰہِ فَاہۡدُوۡہُمۡ اِلٰی صِرَاطِ الۡجَحِیۡمِ ﴿ٙ۲۴﴾
‘Beside Allah; and lead them to the path of the Fire;وَقِفُوۡہُمۡ اِنَّہُمۡ مَّسۡئُوۡلُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۲۵﴾
‘And stop them; for they must be questioned.’مَا لَکُمۡ لَا تَنَاصَرُوۡنَ ﴿۲۶﴾
‘What is the matter with you that you help not one another?’بَلۡ ہُمُ الۡیَوۡمَ مُسۡتَسۡلِمُوۡنَ ﴿۲۷﴾
Nay, on that day they will surrender themselves.وَاَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُہُمۡ عَلٰی بَعۡضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوۡنَ ﴿۲۸﴾
And some of them will address the others, questioning one another.37:29

قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّکُمۡ کُنۡتُمۡ تَاۡتُوۡنَنَا عَنِ الۡیَمِیۡنِ ﴿۲۹﴾
[✲]They will say, ‘Verily, you used to come to us, swearing that you were truthful.’قَالُوۡا بَلۡ لَّمۡ تَکُوۡنُوۡا مُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿ۚ۳۰﴾
They will answer, ‘Nay, you yourselves were not believers.وَمَا کَانَ لَنَا عَلَیۡکُمۡ مِّنۡ سُلۡطٰنٍ ۚ بَلۡ کُنۡتُمۡ قَوۡمًا طٰغِیۡنَ ﴿۳۱﴾
‘And we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a transgressing people.فَحَقَّ عَلَیۡنَا قَوۡلُ رَبِّنَاۤ ٭ۖ اِنَّا لَذَآئِقُوۡنَ ﴿۳۲﴾
‘Now the word of our Lord has been justified against us that we shall surely have to taste the punishment.فَاَغۡوَیۡنٰکُمۡ اِنَّا کُنَّا غٰوِیۡنَ ﴿۳۳﴾
‘And we caused you to go astray for we ourselves had gone astray.’فَاِنَّہُمۡ یَوۡمَئِذٍ فِی الۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِکُوۡنَ ﴿۳۴﴾
Truly, on that day they will all be sharers in the punishment.اِنَّا کَذٰلِکَ نَفۡعَلُ بِالۡمُجۡرِمِیۡنَ ﴿۳۵﴾
Surely, thus do We deal with the guilty:اِنَّہُمۡ کَانُوۡۤا اِذَا قِیۡلَ لَہُمۡ لَاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ ۙ یَسۡتَکۡبِرُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۳۶﴾
For when it was said to them, ‘There is no God but Allah,’ they turned away with disdain,وَیَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اَئِنَّا لَتَارِکُوۡۤا اٰلِہَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجۡنُوۡنٍ ﴿ؕ۳۷﴾
And said, ‘Shall we give up our gods for a mad poet?’بَلۡ جَآءَ بِالۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الۡمُرۡسَلِیۡنَ ﴿۳۸﴾
Nay, he has brought the truth and has testified to the truth of all the Messengers.اِنَّکُمۡ لَذَآئِقُوا الۡعَذَابِ الۡاَلِیۡمِ ﴿ۚ۳۹﴾
You shall surely taste the painful punishment.وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ اِلَّا مَا کُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۴۰﴾
And you will be rewarded only for what you have wrought —اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰہِ الۡمُخۡلَصِیۡنَ ﴿۴۱﴾
Save the chosen servants of Allah;اُولٰٓئِکَ لَہُمۡ رِزۡقٌ مَّعۡلُوۡمٌ ﴿ۙ۴۲﴾
These will have a known provision;فَوَاکِہُ ۚ وَہُمۡ مُّکۡرَمُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۴۳﴾
Fruits; and they shall be honoured,فِیۡ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِیۡمِ ﴿ۙ۴۴﴾
In the Gardens of Bliss,عَلٰی سُرُرٍ مُّتَقٰبِلِیۡنَ ﴿۴۵﴾
Seated on thrones, facing one another.یُطَافُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ بِکَاۡسٍ مِّنۡ مَّعِیۡنٍۭ ﴿ۙ۴۶﴾
They will be served round with a cup from a flowing fountain,بَیۡضَآءَ لَذَّۃٍ لِّلشّٰرِبِیۡنَ ﴿ۚۖ۴۷﴾
Sparkling white, delicious to the drinkers,لَا فِیۡہَا غَوۡلٌ وَّلَا ہُمۡ عَنۡہَا یُنۡزَفُوۡنَ ﴿۴۸﴾
Wherein there will be no intoxication, nor will they be exhausted thereby.وَعِنۡدَہُمۡ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرۡفِ عِیۡنٌ ﴿ۙ۴۹﴾
And with them will be chaste women, with restrained looks and large beautiful eyes,37:50

کَاَنَّہُنَّ بَیۡضٌ مَّکۡنُوۡنٌ ﴿۵۰﴾
[✲]As though they were sheltered eggs.فَاَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُہُمۡ عَلٰی بَعۡضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوۡنَ ﴿۵۱﴾
Then some of them will address the others, questioning one another.قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنۡہُمۡ اِنِّیۡ کَانَ لِیۡ قَرِیۡنٌ ﴿ۙ۵۲﴾
A speaker from among them will say, “I had a companion,یَّقُوۡلُ اَئِنَّکَ لَمِنَ الۡمُصَدِّقِیۡنَ ﴿۵۳﴾
“Who used to say, ‘Art thou indeed among those who believe it to be true?ءَاِذَا مِتۡنَا وَکُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَدِیۡنُوۡنَ ﴿۵۴﴾
‘When we are dead, and have become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?’”قَالَ ہَلۡ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّطَّلِعُوۡنَ ﴿۵۵﴾
He will ask, ‘Will you have a look at him?’فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَاٰہُ فِیۡ سَوَآءِ الۡجَحِیۡمِ ﴿۵۶﴾
Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire.قَالَ تَاللّٰہِ اِنۡ کِدۡتَّ لَتُرۡدِیۡنِ ﴿ۙ۵۷﴾
He will say, ‘By Allah, thou didst almost cause me to perish.وَلَوۡلَا نِعۡمَۃُ رَبِّیۡ لَکُنۡتُ مِنَ الۡمُحۡضَرِیۡنَ ﴿۵۸﴾
‘And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I should surely have been of those who are called up before Him.اَفَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَیِّتِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۵۹﴾
‘Is it not so that we are not going to die again,اِلَّا مَوۡتَتَنَا الۡاُوۡلٰی وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِیۡنَ ﴿۶۰﴾
‘Save our previous death, and that we are not to be punished?اِنَّ ہٰذَا لَہُوَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡعَظِیۡمُ ﴿۶۱﴾
‘Surely this is the supreme triumph.لِمِثۡلِ ہٰذَا فَلۡیَعۡمَلِ الۡعٰمِلُوۡنَ ﴿۶۲﴾
‘For the like of this, then, let the workers work.’اَذٰلِکَ خَیۡرٌ نُّزُلًا اَمۡ شَجَرَۃُ الزَّقُّوۡمِ ﴿۶۳﴾
Is that better as an entertainment, or the tree of Zaqqum?اِنَّا جَعَلۡنٰہَا فِتۡنَۃً لِّلظّٰلِمِیۡنَ ﴿۶۴﴾
Verily We have made it a trial for the wrongdoers.اِنَّہَا شَجَرَۃٌ تَخۡرُجُ فِیۡۤ اَصۡلِ الۡجَحِیۡمِ ﴿ۙ۶۵﴾
It is a tree that springs forth in the bottom of Hell;طَلۡعُہَا کَاَنَّہٗ رُءُوۡسُ الشَّیٰطِیۡنِ ﴿۶۶﴾
The fruit thereof is as though it were the heads of serpents.فَاِنَّہُمۡ لَاٰکِلُوۡنَ مِنۡہَا فَمَالِـُٔوۡنَ مِنۡہَا الۡبُطُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۶۷﴾
And they shall eat of it and fill their bellies therewith.ثُمَّ اِنَّ لَہُمۡ عَلَیۡہَا لَشَوۡبًا مِّنۡ حَمِیۡمٍ ﴿ۚ۶۸﴾
Then will they have in addition to it a mixture of boiling water as a drink.ثُمَّ اِنَّ مَرۡجِعَہُمۡ لَا۠اِلَی الۡجَحِیۡمِ ﴿۶۹﴾
Then surely their return shall be to Hell.اِنَّہُمۡ اَلۡفَوۡا اٰبَآءَہُمۡ ضَآلِّیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۷۰﴾
They indeed found their fathers erring,فَہُمۡ عَلٰۤی اٰثٰرِہِمۡ یُہۡرَعُوۡنَ ﴿۷۱﴾
And they hurried on in their footsteps.وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَہُمۡ اَکۡثَرُ الۡاَوَّلِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۷۲﴾
And most of the ancient peoples had erred before them,وَلَقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا فِیۡہِمۡ مُّنۡذِرِیۡنَ ﴿۷۳﴾
And We had sent Warners among them.فَانۡظُرۡ کَیۡفَ کَانَ عَاقِبَۃُ الۡمُنۡذَرِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۷۴﴾
Behold, then, how evil was the end of those who were warned,اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰہِ الۡمُخۡلَصِیۡنَ ﴿٪۷۵﴾
Save the chosen servants of Allah.وَلَقَدۡ نَادٰٮنَا نُوۡحٌ فَلَنِعۡمَ الۡمُجِیۡبُوۡنَ ﴿۫ۖ۷۶﴾
And Noah indeed did cry unto Us, and what an excellent answer did We give to his prayer!وَنَجَّیۡنٰہُ وَاَہۡلَہٗ مِنَ الۡکَرۡبِ الۡعَظِیۡمِ ﴿۫ۖ۷۷﴾
And We saved him and his family from the great distress;وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّیَّتَہٗ ہُمُ الۡبٰقِیۡنَ ﴿۫ۖ۷۸﴾
And We made his offspring the only survivors.وَتَرَکۡنَا عَلَیۡہِ فِی الۡاٰخِرِیۡنَ ﴿۫ۖ۷۹﴾
And We left for him a good name among the following generations —37:80

سَلٰمٌ عَلٰی نُوۡحٍ فِی الۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿۸۰﴾
[✲]‘Peace be upon Noah among the peoples!’اِنَّا کَذٰلِکَ نَجۡزِی الۡمُحۡسِنِیۡنَ ﴿۸۱﴾
Thus indeed do We reward those who do good.اِنَّہٗ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۸۲﴾
He was surely one of Our believing servants.ثُمَّ اَغۡرَقۡنَا الۡاٰخَرِیۡنَ ﴿۸۳﴾
Then We drowned the others.وَاِنَّ مِنۡ شِیۡعَتِہٖ لَاِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ ﴿ۘ۸۴﴾
And verily of his party was Abraham;37:85

اِذۡ جَآءَ رَبَّہٗ بِقَلۡبٍ سَلِیۡمٍ ﴿۸۵﴾
[✲]When he came to his Lord with a sound heart;اِذۡ قَالَ لِاَبِیۡہِ وَقَوۡمِہٖ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۸۶﴾
When he said to his father and to his people, ‘What is it that you worship?37:87

اَئِفۡکًا اٰلِہَۃً دُوۡنَ اللّٰہِ تُرِیۡدُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۸۷﴾
[✲]‘Do you falsely seek gods beside Allah?فَمَا ظَنُّکُمۡ بِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿۸۸﴾
‘So what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?’فَنَظَرَ نَظۡرَۃً فِی النُّجُوۡمِ ﴿ۙ۸۹﴾
Then he cast a glance at the stars,فَقَالَ اِنِّیۡ سَقِیۡمٌ ﴿۹۰﴾
And said, ‘I am indeed feeling unwell.’فَتَوَلَّوۡا عَنۡہُ مُدۡبِرِیۡنَ ﴿۹۱﴾
So they went away from him turning their backs.فَرَاغَ اِلٰۤی اٰلِہَتِہِمۡ فَقَالَ اَلَا تَاۡکُلُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۹۲﴾
Then he went secretly to their gods and said, ‘Will you not eat?مَا لَکُمۡ لَا تَنۡطِقُوۡنَ ﴿۹۳﴾
‘What is the matter with you that you speak not?’فَرَاغَ عَلَیۡہِمۡ ضَرۡبًۢا بِالۡیَمِیۡنِ ﴿۹۴﴾
Then he began suddenly to strike them with the right hand.فَاَقۡبَلُوۡۤا اِلَیۡہِ یَزِفُّوۡنَ ﴿۹۵﴾
Thereupon the people came towards him hastening.قَالَ اَتَعۡبُدُوۡنَ مَا تَنۡحِتُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۹۶﴾
He said, ‘Do you worship that which you have yourselves carved out,وَاللّٰہُ خَلَقَکُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿۹۷﴾
‘Whereas Allah has created you and your handiwork?’قَالُوا ابۡنُوۡا لَہٗ بُنۡیَانًا فَاَلۡقُوۡہُ فِی الۡجَحِیۡمِ ﴿۹۸﴾
They said, ‘Build for him a structure and cast him into the fire.’فَاَرَادُوۡا بِہٖ کَیۡدًا فَجَعَلۡنٰہُمُ الۡاَسۡفَلِیۡنَ ﴿۹۹﴾
Thus they intended an evil design against him, but We made them most humiliated.وَقَالَ اِنِّیۡ ذَاہِبٌ اِلٰی رَبِّیۡ سَیَہۡدِیۡنِ ﴿۱۰۰﴾
And he said, ‘I am going to my Lord, Who will guide me.رَبِّ ہَبۡ لِیۡ مِنَ الصّٰلِحِیۡنَ ﴿۱۰۱﴾
‘My Lord, grant me a righteous son.’فَبَشَّرۡنٰہُ بِغُلٰمٍ حَلِیۡمٍ ﴿۱۰۲﴾
So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing son.فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَہُ السَّعۡیَ قَالَ یٰبُنَیَّ اِنِّیۡۤ اَرٰی فِی الۡمَنَامِ اَنِّیۡۤ اَذۡبَحُکَ فَانۡظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرٰی ؕ قَالَ یٰۤاَبَتِ افۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُ ۫ سَتَجِدُنِیۡۤ اِنۡ شَآءَ اللّٰہُ مِنَ الصّٰبِرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۰۳﴾
And when he was old enough to work with him, he said, ‘O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee. So consider, what thou thinkest of it!’ He replied, ‘O my father, do as thou art commanded; thou wilt find me, if Allah please, of those who are patient.’37:104

فَلَمَّاۤ اَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّہٗ لِلۡجَبِیۡنِ ﴿۱۰۴﴾ۚ
[✲]And when they both submitted to the Will of God, and he had thrown him down on his forehead,وَنَادَیۡنٰہُ اَنۡ یّٰۤاِبۡرٰہِیۡمُ ﴿۱۰۵﴾ۙ
We called to him: ‘O Abraham,قَدۡ صَدَّقۡتَ الرُّءۡیَا ۚ اِنَّا کَذٰلِکَ نَجۡزِی الۡمُحۡسِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۰۶﴾
‘Thou hast indeed fulfilled the dream.’ Thus indeed do We reward those who do good.اِنَّ ہٰذَا لَہُوَ الۡبَلٰٓـؤُا الۡمُبِیۡنُ ﴿۱۰۷﴾
That surely was a manifest trial.وَفَدَیۡنٰہُ بِذِبۡحٍ عَظِیۡمٍ ﴿۱۰۸﴾
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.وَتَرَکۡنَا عَلَیۡہِ فِی الۡاٰخِرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۰۹﴾ۖ
And We left for him a good name among the following generations —سَلٰمٌ عَلٰۤی اِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ ﴿۱۱۰﴾
‘Peace be upon Abraham!’کَذٰلِکَ نَجۡزِی الۡمُحۡسِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۱۱﴾
Thus do We reward those who do good.اِنَّہٗ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۱۲﴾
Surely, he was one of Our believing servants.وَبَشَّرۡنٰہُ بِاِسۡحٰقَ نَبِیًّا مِّنَ الصّٰلِحِیۡنَ ﴿۱۱۳﴾
And We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, and one of the righteous.37:114

وَبٰرَکۡنَا عَلَیۡہِ وَعَلٰۤی اِسۡحٰقَ ؕ وَمِنۡ ذُرِّیَّتِہِمَا مُحۡسِنٌ وَّظَالِمٌ لِّنَفۡسِہٖ مُبِیۡنٌ ﴿۱۱۴﴾٪
[✲]And We bestowed blessings on him and Isaac. And among their progeny are some who do good and others who clearly wrong themselves.وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلٰی مُوۡسٰی وَہٰرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۱۵﴾ۚ
And, indeed, We bestowed favours on Moses and Aaron.وَنَجَّیۡنٰہُمَا وَقَوۡمَہُمَا مِنَ الۡکَرۡبِ الۡعَظِیۡمِ ﴿۱۱۶﴾ۚ
And We saved them both and their people from the great distress;وَنَصَرۡنٰہُمۡ فَکَانُوۡا ہُمُ الۡغٰلِبِیۡنَ ﴿۱۱۷﴾ۚ
And We helped them, and it was they who were victorious.37:118

وَاٰتَیۡنٰہُمَا الۡکِتٰبَ الۡمُسۡتَبِیۡنَ ﴿۱۱۸﴾ۚ
[✲]And We gave them the Book that made things clear;وَہَدَیۡنٰہُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الۡمُسۡتَقِیۡمَ ﴿۱۱۹﴾ۚ
And We guided them to the right path.وَتَرَکۡنَا عَلَیۡہِمَا فِی الۡاٰخِرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۰﴾ۙ
And We left for them a good name among the following generations —سَلٰمٌ عَلٰی مُوۡسٰی وَہٰرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۲۱﴾
‘Peace be on Moses and Aaron!’اِنَّا کَذٰلِکَ نَجۡزِی الۡمُحۡسِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۲﴾
Thus indeed do We reward those who do good.اِنَّہُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۳﴾
Surely they were both among Our believing servants.وَاِنَّ اِلۡیَاسَ لَمِنَ الۡمُرۡسَلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۴﴾ؕ
And assuredly Elias also was one of the Messengers,اِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِہٖۤ اَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَ ﴿۱۲۵﴾
When he said to his people, ‘Will you not fear God?اَتَدۡعُوۡنَ بَعۡلًا وَّتَذَرُوۡنَ اَحۡسَنَ الۡخَالِقِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۶﴾ۙ
‘Do you call on Ba‘l, and forsake the Best of creators,اللّٰہَ رَبَّکُمۡ وَرَبَّ اٰبَآئِکُمُ الۡاَوَّلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۷﴾
‘Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of old?’فَکَذَّبُوۡہُ فَاِنَّہُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۲۸﴾ۙ
But they treated him as a liar, and they will surely be brought before God to render an account;اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰہِ الۡمُخۡلَصِیۡنَ ﴿۱۲۹﴾
Except the chosen servants of Allah.وَتَرَکۡنَا عَلَیۡہِ فِی الۡاٰخِرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۰﴾ۙ
And We left for him a good name among the following generations —سَلٰمٌ عَلٰۤی اِلۡیَاسِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۱﴾
‘Peace be on Elias and his people!’اِنَّا کَذٰلِکَ نَجۡزِی الۡمُحۡسِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۲﴾
Thus indeed do We reward those who do good.اِنَّہٗ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۳﴾
Surely he was one of Our believing servants.وَاِنَّ لُوۡطًا لَّمِنَ الۡمُرۡسَلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۴﴾ؕ
And assuredly Lot too was one of the Messengers,اِذۡ نَجَّیۡنٰہُ وَاَہۡلَہٗۤ اَجۡمَعِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۵﴾ۙ
When We delivered him and all his family,اِلَّا عَجُوۡزًا فِی الۡغٰبِرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۶﴾
Except an old woman who was among those who stayed behind.ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا الۡاٰخَرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۷﴾
Then We utterly destroyed the others.وَاِنَّکُمۡ لَتَمُرُّوۡنَ عَلَیۡہِمۡ مُّصۡبِحِیۡنَ ﴿۱۳۸﴾
And surely you pass by them in the morning,وَبِالَّیۡلِ ؕ اَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ ﴿۱۳۹﴾٪
And by night. Then why do you not understand?وَاِنَّ یُوۡنُسَ لَمِنَ الۡمُرۡسَلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۴۰﴾ؕ
And surely Jonah also was one of the Messengers,اِذۡ اَبَقَ اِلَی الۡفُلۡکِ الۡمَشۡحُوۡنِ ﴿۱۴۱﴾ۙ
When he fled to the laden ship;37:142

فَسَاہَمَ فَکَانَ مِنَ الۡمُدۡحَضِیۡنَ ﴿۱۴۲﴾ۚ
[✲]And he cast lots with the crew of the ship and was of the losers.فَالۡتَقَمَہُ الۡحُوۡتُ وَہُوَ مُلِیۡمٌ ﴿۱۴۳﴾
And the fish swallowed him while he was blaming himself.فَلَوۡلَاۤ اَنَّہٗ کَانَ مِنَ الۡمُسَبِّحِیۡنَ ﴿۱۴۴﴾ۙ
And had he not been of those who glorify God,لَلَبِثَ فِیۡ بَطۡنِہٖۤ اِلٰی یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُوۡنَ ﴿۱۴۵﴾ۚ
He would have surely tarried in its belly till the Day of Resurrection.فَنَبَذۡنٰہُ بِالۡعَرَآءِ وَہُوَ سَقِیۡمٌ ﴿۱۴۶﴾ۚ
Then We cast him on a bare tract of land, and he was sick;وَاَنۡۢبَتۡنَا عَلَیۡہِ شَجَرَۃً مِّنۡ یَّقۡطِیۡنٍ ﴿۱۴۷﴾ۚ
And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him.وَاَرۡسَلۡنٰہُ اِلٰی مِائَۃِ اَلۡفٍ اَوۡ یَزِیۡدُوۡنَ ﴿۱۴۸﴾ۚ
And We sent him as a Messenger to a hundred thousand people or more,فَاٰمَنُوۡا فَمَتَّعۡنٰہُمۡ اِلٰی حِیۡنٍ ﴿۱۴۹﴾ؕ
And they believed; so We gave them provision for a while.فَاسۡتَفۡتِہِمۡ اَلِرَبِّکَ الۡبَنَاتُ وَلَہُمُ الۡبَنُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵۰﴾ۙ
Now ask them whether thy Lord has daughters whereas they have sons.اَمۡ خَلَقۡنَا الۡمَلٰٓئِکَۃَ اِنَاثًا وَّہُمۡ شٰہِدُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵۱﴾
Did We create the angels females while they were witnesses?37:152

اَلَاۤ اِنَّہُمۡ مِّنۡ اِفۡکِہِمۡ لَیَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵۲﴾ۙ
[✲]Now, surely it is one of their fabrications that they say,وَلَدَ اللّٰہُ ۙ وَاِنَّہُمۡ لَکٰذِبُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵۳﴾
‘Allah has begotten children;’ and they are certainly liars.اَصۡطَفَی الۡبَنَاتِ عَلَی الۡبَنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۵۴﴾ؕ
Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons?مَا لَکُمۡ ۟ کَیۡفَ تَحۡکُمُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵۵﴾
What is the matter with you? How judge ye?اَفَلَا تَذَکَّرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵۶﴾ۚ
Will you not then reflect?اَمۡ لَکُمۡ سُلۡطٰنٌ مُّبِیۡنٌ ﴿۱۵۷﴾ۙ
Or have you a clear authority?فَاۡتُوۡا بِکِتٰبِکُمۡ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِیۡنَ ﴿۱۵۸﴾
Then produce your Book, if you are truthful.37:159

وَجَعَلُوۡا بَیۡنَہٗ وَبَیۡنَ الۡجِنَّۃِ نَسَبًا ؕ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ الۡجِنَّۃُ اِنَّہُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۵۹﴾ۙ
[✲]And they assert a blood relationship between Him and the Jinn while the Jinn themselves know that they will be brought before God for judgment.سُبۡحٰنَ اللّٰہِ عَمَّا یَصِفُوۡنَ ﴿۱۶۰﴾ۙ
Holy is Allah and free from what they attribute to Him.اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰہِ الۡمُخۡلَصِیۡنَ ﴿۱۶۱﴾
But the chosen servants of Allah do not do so.فَاِنَّکُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُوۡنَ ﴿۱۶۲﴾ۙ
Verily, you and what you worship —مَاۤ اَنۡتُمۡ عَلَیۡہِ بِفٰتِنِیۡنَ ﴿۱۶۳﴾ۙ
None of you can mislead anyone against Him,اِلَّا مَنۡ ہُوَ صَالِ الۡجَحِیۡمِ ﴿۱۶۴﴾
Except him who shall burn in Hell.وَمَا مِنَّاۤ اِلَّا لَہٗ مَقَامٌ مَّعۡلُوۡمٌ ﴿۱۶۵﴾ۙ
And the angels say: ‘And there is not one of us but has an appointed station.وَّاِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ الصَّآفُّوۡنَ ﴿۱۶۶﴾ۚ
‘And, verily, we are those who stand ranged in ranks.وَاِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ الۡمُسَبِّحُوۡنَ ﴿۱۶۷﴾
‘And we are verily those who glorify God.’وَاِنۡ کَانُوۡا لَیَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ﴿۱۶۸﴾ۙ
And surely they used to say,لَوۡ اَنَّ عِنۡدَنَا ذِکۡرًا مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۶۹﴾ۙ
‘If we had with us a Book like that of the people of old,لَکُنَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰہِ الۡمُخۡلَصِیۡنَ ﴿۱۷۰﴾
‘We would surely have been Allah’s chosen servants.’فَکَفَرُوۡا بِہٖ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ﴿۱۷۱﴾
Yet when it is come to them they disbelieve therein, but they will soon come to know.وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ کَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الۡمُرۡسَلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۷۲﴾ۚۖ
And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the Messengers,اِنَّہُمۡ لَہُمُ الۡمَنۡصُوۡرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۷۳﴾۪
That it is certainly they who would be helped;وَاِنَّ جُنۡدَنَا لَہُمُ الۡغٰلِبُوۡنَ ﴿۱۷۴﴾
And that it is Our host that would certainly be victorious.فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡہُمۡ حَتّٰی حِیۡنٍ ﴿۱۷۵﴾ۙ
So turn thou away from them for a while.وَّاَبۡصِرۡہُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۷۶﴾
And watch them, for they will soon see.اَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُوۡنَ ﴿۱۷۷﴾
Is it then Our punishment that they seek to hasten on?فَاِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِہِمۡ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ الۡمُنۡذَرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۷۸﴾
But when it descends into their courtyard, it shall be an evil morning to those who were warned.وَتَوَلَّ عَنۡہُمۡ حَتّٰی حِیۡنٍ ﴿۱۷۹﴾ۙ
So turn thou away from them for a while.وَّاَبۡصِرۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۸۰﴾
And watch, for they will soon see.سُبۡحٰنَ رَبِّکَ رَبِّ الۡعِزَّۃِ عَمَّا یَصِفُوۡنَ ﴿۱۸۱﴾ۚ
Holy is thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power, far above that which they assert.وَسَلٰمٌ عَلَی الۡمُرۡسَلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۸۲﴾ۚ
And peace be upon the Messengers!وَالۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰہِ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ ﴿۱۸۳﴾٪
And all praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.Al-Saffat — Those Ranged in Ranks
